I actually enjoy painting. Everything looks so fresh and clean. Usually I can go for hours but I hurt my neck and shoulder recently and they are still a little sore. I'm taking lots of breaks. :p

I bet. It sounds like a career move versus a job. I was excited for you reading about it.

Unky - I know exactly what you mean. I used to travel so much for my job, eating out all the time. I had to be really careful. Do you know what your next project will be? That was what I really enjoyed about working for an accounting firm - always a new challenge and meeting new people. The travel was fun for a while, but it got old.

I used to like painting but I haven't even wanted to for awhile. I need to paint my bedroom but I keep putting it off. I need to do a lot of things but keep putting it off. Haha

Thanks for being happy for me. It will be leaving one job I thought I would retire from to another job that I hope I can retire from.

haha! thanks for the heads up :p id be getting some strange looks  oh and i have this really strange phobia of anyone touching my belly button and it looks like mine is gonna pop out soon and rub off my clothes! aaaaah gross!

That's the pop out timer to let you know when its ready. :D (many turkeys come with those, they pop out when its fully cooked. Not sure they have those on your side of the pond.)

It should be in the appendix of the women's body user manual.

No, I don't know yet what it will be. I'm already having some difficulty with managing my own tests and deciding how to perform them all by myself, it's more difficult than I first thought, where in my first project, I only performed the testing. But I'm working through it, and I understand that it's a learning process too, so I think I'll be fine :)

About the travelling... I've heard rumours that the people who seem old and worn out are the ones who travelled a lot... and when I mean a lot, it's really a lot lot lot

I've been wanting to do it for a while, but with my time off now it will be much easier. My house is pretty big so it will take a while to do all that I want. My good friend Carolyn (you might remember her from a couple of years ago) is having a baby in September and I also told her I'd paint the baby's room for her. Oh well, it will keep me out of trouble... for the most part. :D

I'll look forward to hearing more about it. I'm still not sure what exactly I want to do when I grow up - no retirement plans yet. ;)

Well my heart was set on a girl. When we were there finding out what it was I was so mad. Truly I was. I think the nurse was shocked. But I did grow to love the idea of a boy after we started to buy things and I had some showers and all the cute hats and presents.

After I had him I had some post partum. Not to bad. During labor I went all natural. It hurt. Enough when they put him on my chest like they do I didn't care at that point. They took him and did what they do but my husband held him a very long time before I took interest.

After we came home for about 3 months I had a hard time. My problem was more how he changed my life but nothing changed for my husband. He still had his freedom. He left to go play his sports. He was able to still work. He was able to go shop with out the hassle of the baby. I was stuck. That's how I felt. I had so much resentment towards him. It got better for sure. After I went back to work and found myself again it truly got better.

I am so happy I have my little man. He is beautiful and makes my heart melt everyday. Now that I sit and think a girl would be terrible for me. I am kind of prissy in my own way and I just can't imagine what a priss my girl would be. I think my son was meant to be for sure and for that I am thankful. We named him Gavin Bruce. We chose Bruce for his middle name because my oldest brother and his oldest brother both passed away.

Oh I could handle the poo better then the puke. I wish you well. We also didn't want children. We have been together since 1991. We had our son in 2003. The reason is because my hubby is a diabetic and he had a sugar attack one night. A bad one. He wasn't responsive at all. They took him out on a stretcher and let me tell you I saw my life flash before my eyes as I knew it. I thought I was a widow. The only regret was not having children. So we talked about it and within 2 months we were pregnant. The funny thing is the reason for not wanting children was because of his diabetes. He didn't want to pass it on. He was a child himself when he got it and it wasn't good for him back then.

What the heck I am getting all personal today. Lol

I am confidant when I interview but I didn't get the last job I interviewed for and I was fully qualified, didn't need the benefits was a perfect fit all around. All I can think is I was to quiet and didn't expand past the questions they asked.

Yes, and I only interview those that are qualified, usually four or five people.

When everything is equal between them and they have good references it usually comes down to a gut feel.

Posture, eye contact, proper dress, willingness to work with our systems, intelligent to learn quickly, attitude, working with people, getting things done, ability to work well without constant supervision, etc.

Hope this helps some Sunny.

Yes it does thank you. Those are all things I knew employers looked for. I interviewed girls a few times but I only had input on the final decision. I didn't make the decision.

I guess today I need to just be a bit louder and talk about myself more. Usually I answer quick and to the point. I don't want to be a babble mouth either. I wish someone sometime would just say hey this is why we didn't pick you and this is what you can do better.

Hey Sunny,

I used to be involved in the interview process at my firm - an accounting firm, so I thought I'd throw in my two cents. The applicants that impressed me made the interview more of a conversation style than a question and answer style. They knew about the firm, about the job, what they wanted to do in life, could express themselves well, and demonstrated why they were a good applicant. You might consider things you did in your past jobs that made a difference. I remember you were in banking for years, which takes a detailed type person who is personable with customers. That definitely relates to work in an accounting firm. I remember a few of the things you said about your last job where you found ways to save the company money and you were looking to establish policies and procedures - again, very relevant to working in an accounting firm.

Sunny, you can call back after your interview that you didn't get the job and politely ask them to take a few minutes to help you, most people will help. Tell them that you want to improve and any advice would be appreciated. Then get them into a conversation and get details.

When we bid jobs and lose I have my sales people call back for the same reason. And I have them tell them that should things not work out like they expected to please call us.. we will be ready.

This is very true. I am always impressed with people that took the time to research my companies.

And also the relaxed/professional attitude works. I tells me how they react under pressure.

Good one JLo

Good morning! It's a beautiful day here for a couple hours. I only have a few minutes my son has a family picnic at school I have to be at and its always fun. We actually get to eat the school lunches. Brings back memories.

Addy good girl on sticking with your orders. I give you a raise. I have say I peeked in and I saw bear watching with a grin while adam was getting his bottom blistered. Now what to do with Adam.

Guys this is to funny. I show up to the interview and instantly I feel like I know this girl. I just felt this comfortable knowing feeling. Oh gosh it hit me. She was Alty's clone I kid you not. Same hair and same dark eyes. When she smiled I nearly fell out of my chair it was so much like Alty. She has a twin here in the states.

The interview went well. She was super quiet and shy in a sense. I dominated it and honestly didn't mean to. She was just so quiet. I want the job but not for the pay. But I decided if they offer it I am taking it. Stepping stones is how I see it. If I wait the next offer might only be a pebble if you see what I am saying. I am just nervous about the office. The owner is retiring soon and Alty-clone is taking over the business and wants to grow up. But I truly don't think her personality is strong enough to do that. She truly just was quiet and not sure how to talk with me. Maybe I can be her strength and she will see that.

Hey bear.

You are outgoing, she isnt; you may find it frustrating. I don't mean you should go into this with a mindset of how two different pesonalities might work, even if you are offered the position and take it, it isn't carved in stone that you have to stay. That must be such a great feeling. My mom used to tell me stories about when she was pregnant with me and how my dad would "communicate" with me. Pushchair? Tee hee, if I think I know what you are talking about, we call them strollers.

JLo, I used to put head phones on my belly and listen to my fav music. E would bounce around in my belly, and now she LOVES playing and listening to music.

I loved being pregnant. It was such a great feeling. The only thing I hated was the stretch marks and the constant heart burn. Even water used to give me heart burn :( I can't even remember the sleepless nights, but I know there were many. E had colic and holy moley did it ever suck! The only way I could get her to sleep was to lay her on her belly on my arms and walk the floors. Sometimes the car would work too. I bet you are getting so excited. I remember how scared/excited I was when I was getting closer. It was so fun buying all the baby stuff and getting her room all ready. Ahh the joys!

I always have heartburn! I avoid the obvious foods that give it but at this point I don't even know what's causing it, maybe it's the indegestion tablets! That's all I seem to be eating! Lol

Other than that I loving my pregnancy too, my first 12 weeks were quite bad and a lot of the time I'm in bed with severe back pain but other than that its worth it! Haha

She diesnt move an inch as soon as Will tries to make her move, she is actually very unpredictable but I can see a pattern forming now that the kicks are getting stronger, she doesn't sleep at night at all it seems!

Hi there - just nosey old me.

Adam - Is this a new idea you are working on? Different from your new job?

Yea, I am still going to take the job I was talking about before, but I came up with an idea last week and me and my friend are going to make my idea come possible. Then I will no longer be working for the job I am taking because I would have more money than I know what to do with. Haha

That would be awesome! You said Mauritius had a landing strip right? I can't remember if you said they did or not. Maybe within 6 months to a year I will fly out, lay the proposal in front of you, and if you like it, You can oversee all the projects. Making sure things work right. That would be a pretty good paying job for you and you would be good at it. I wouldn't require you to travel if you didn't want to.

Adam, did you PM me? I received something as an email that I think was to be a PM but all it was was your email address?

I got stuck in that rush hour traffic in N.E. Indiana near Hammond. It would usually take me an hour to get home... three hours this time, I am now among the 'walking dead'...

I know Sunny, we had a temp of 94 and high humidity but it was great until I got a touch of sun stroke; bad headache and dizzy.

We had a Bar B Que and we intended to have the family and a few friends over (got a new 7 foot grill 'Wow' it's nice) well by the time we had it we had over 70 people; 85 steaks, 90 cheeseburgers, corn on the cob, baked beans with melted cheese, potato salad, beer, Mike's, liquor, soda and all that 'stuff'. We didn't get to bed until around 3:30 am and up this morning to go to Indiana at 6:30... Dragging butt, big time. But everyone seemed to enjoy the food (my special seasonings) and I think they all had a good time. But too much sun getting everything ready; tents, touches, breaking in the new grill...

But we had a lot of fun too...

I take my dog, listen to music, and chat with neighbors out walking their dogs. My favorite destination is the library, so I'm usually toting a couple of books back and forth. I've always loved going to the library.

23C? That's 73F... you don't need heat or air conditioning at that temp. That's basically the temp I'd LOVE to keep my house at year around. But it would cost an arm and a leg to keep it that warm in winter and that cool in summer. ( I keep them 69F in winter and 79F in summer)

It was 35C here most of the last week (95F). Was 38C last Sunday and Monday. (100F) where I live. Much cooler today however. Those were not average temps.

But yeah... we do have greater temp swings than you do. The mass of the North Atlantic does a lot for moderating those swings.

Wow - that's hot. We only get 2 months of warm weather generally - July and August, where the temps will reach 100 degrees sometimes. My favorite month is September. The weather is perfect and our community has something really special going on every weekend.

Yeah.. that was a small heat wave, above the average temps. A few towns here actually broke records by a small amount... But not the one I live in.

But its not unusual to hit that in July or August. Usually accompanied with very high humidity as well. We never get dry heat... its always a very humid heat.

I'm in the general area of Washington DC... and it was always historically a muggy place in summer.

We are very dry here. Even when I go to Los Angeles now (which isn't that humid), I feel the humidity. I just looked it up for fun. Our humidity runs around 20% for most of the year, 30% average with the winter months included. I actually had to get used to how dry it was when I first moved back. My skin wasn't liking it.

Well, it was nice visiting with everyone, but time to take my walk and get back to painting. Have a nice day!

Add 50% to those numbers for our average summer humidity. Meaning add 50.

But I have sympathy for Gulf Coast residents... they have it worse than us.

All I know is that here in Indiana the weather is unbearable at times. Sometimes it can be the coldest place in the U.S in the winter and near the hottest in the summer. This past Monday the humidity reached around 95% and the temperature was 93° so it felt really hot. Tomorrow it is supposed to be about that and I have to work outside all day tomorrow at work.

Hey guys and gals.
I am out in the sunshine having a lawn sale. I never have lawn sales. I usually give my stuff to the salvation army or thrift stores. I mean really who wants my junk, its junk. Woo haa $145 in less then an hour I am addicted. That was fast easy cash right there. All day today and tomorrow what can I end up with? Good I need it!

JLo I love hearing you read. I just got back in to reading now that my son is older. I love reading. I used to be in book clubs. They mail you selections every month. Dork I know.

Good for you. I had one garage sale one time. I didn't really enjoy it. I paid the boys across the street to sit out there for me. I think I made about $500 after their "wages", mostly because I was selling a sofa and love seat. The boys loved it. :)

I'm too cheap to buy books. Can't help it - I'm an accountant. I'm not going to buy something I can get for free from the library. Haha. I usually get 2-3 books at a time. One classic, one from a current popular author (like Grisham, Patterson, etc.), and often one on something I want to learn about - could be cooking, decorating, travel, etc. Right now I'm reading books related to my career change, but I bet you can guess what will be next up. :D

Sitting out here is OK with me. My sister in law is here and we are having some drinks. A lot of the neighbors have been over to look and visit. Its been sort of fun. After today though I am sending the rest to the thrift stores. I hate clutter so storing it all is out of the question.

I buy my books now at thrift stores and junk stores. I paid .25 each for these great books and just sold them for $1 each. How great was that!

Jun 5, 2011, 05:30 AM
Nice Sunny :D

Maybe you could do that as a side project or something, buy the stuff from thrift stores then sell them on at profit, just until you find a job :)

I used to go carbooting with a neighbour a few years back, he'd buy all these powertools and stuff and we'd go to carboot sales everyweekend and sell them. Good times :D

I do not miss having to get up at 4.30 am though to get the van packed, drive there and then setup :)

Bear no problem on the late reply. I am staying busy better then I thought I would. Just the simple things like house cleaning alone can take up some time. But we have the pool open and ready. Been getting some lawn work done around the house. The hubby is on vacation this week so spending time with him. Sadly we end up having liquid lunches also its rare we are able to do that together so its fun. Two bars on our block less then a mile from my house and daycare makes it way to easy for that liquid lunch business.
