Morning folks. Does this happen to you guys... When you have to work or go to school, and that alarm clock goes off at 6:30 you just want to throw it out the window. You're so tired you actually lay in bed and contemplate calling in dead. Then when you are on break you automatically wake up at 6:30 and can NOT go back to sleep for the life of you?

Grr so frustrating. I'm sitting here watching the news net because there is absolutely nothing else on. I suppose I could clean E's room... Oh well I guess my routine won't be totally messed up for when I go back to school on Monday.

Hey Adam! :)

As for the news, I got a job, not a big deal; helping an accountant with filing, and making cheques, etc.

But then, I just got a scholarship for Ersnt and Young, a Finance and Accounting degree which will be paid by the company and which starts on the 1st of April. So... I'll have to quit my new job soon.

Not to bad. Had a bad past few days. Backed my car into another vehicle the other night and that is about enough to ruin ones day but talked to my insurance company and it seems nothing will happen of it. No damage to either vehicle.

Unknown008
Mar 22, 2011, 11:19 AM
Ah, that's fortunate that you're both safe and that there are no damage. Indeed, today my mum got the car for servicing (is that how you call it? I would think so since we use the english word) and it takes from 9 am to 5 pm, so much waiting. Well, there were applications to be done (we're applying for Chinese scholarships right now, after Singapores') and a lot of hassle around, this document missing, this document needs to be checked by a notary (or something like that), that document should not be hand written... bah, a lot of stress around.

Got everything settled and hopefully, things will get better tomorrow, since the place for submitting the admissions closes at 12.20.

Otherwise, it would have taken 3 days to get the notary and the documents ready >.< We were fortunate that my uncle could have the things settled today itself.

Having a scheduled a$$ chewing.

My boss is ticked off about something and said he needs to talk to us at 2:30 this afternoon.
So no for the next couple of hours I get to look forward to this a$$ chewing.

So if any of you happen to glance at your clock around 2:30, you can laugh and know that adam is getting yelled at.

I hope not either. He just got here a few minutes ago and seemed in an OK mood but that will change around 2:30 I am sure. I think it is just a vicious yelling circle. Ya know the one that goes from president of the company down to his lower employee, then from that boss to their employee then from that boss to their employee and so on until it reaches me and I have nobody to yell at so I guess it end at me. So more like a vicious line or pyramid.

A fung pao, by definition is a red envelope that adults give to children on new year, the envelope containing money.

And no QP, we don't have rice in envelope, though I think they used boiled rice as glue at some point in time, to seal the envelopes. :p

Hey Adam and Smoothy! :)

I'm getting busy with work. Starting at 8.30 (officially, but with the traffic I get at 8.45 most of the time) and ends at 5.15 (again, with traffic, I arrive home at about 6.45 pm).

Then, I get on forums (excluding time for dinner, shower and stuff), then to IRC where I'm working on a bot (which is a program which runs on a server) and helped by some friends.

Well, yesterday I added a script which tells the bot to display the time and date at a particular location on the globe by typing in

.tz location

Where tz means timezone and the location can be Mauritius, New York, London, etc.

My bot for the time being can also host an uno game and work out the scores, save them up, set a ranking table with number of wins and total points, etc.

I still have a lot to read on how to activate more options and make the bot run faster.

Only differences I can see are that its more difficult and your getting paid to be unhappy this time around.

Not at the better places to work. I've found you have less of that sort of thing as the work environment INCREASES in professionalism (I.E. technical sophistication).

Where I work and what I do you would never get to do as an entry level person. You have to have years in the field to even be considered for an interview... much less get hired. You don't see those sorts of games as a result here. But I do know you do have those sorts of games some places. The closer you get to where a trained monkey can do the job... the more you get that sort of thing. But even there... the better places won't tolerate that sort of thing because it hurts productivity by fostering a hostile environment.

At least within the scope of personal experience of places I have worked.

Bear, I have totally worked at those jobs. My last job at the accounting firm totally SUCKED. Put me in a really bad place in my life. Took a long time to get out of it. High school was much the same at times. I had lots of friends, but one day everyone is friends, the next it's a massive fight.

I do enjoy going to school with adults, there is still the drama and the silliness, but it's more controlled. I have worked at good jobs where, maybe I was a favorite, but I was just treated so well. I actually enjoyed going to work each day. I wish I didn't have to move away and start a new job.

Ernst & Young is the name of the company :) I hear it's the leading company in terms of advisory services. I just got in and the fact that I'm rusty in accounting... I will need to study more to get my ACCA exams done well (that's an accounting exam, Google gives plenty of links).

I'm a junior for the time being and I'm on my first job, that's where a little group from the firm internal advisory department visits a company and assess the financial risks involved, advising where necessary of what to do to minimise those risks.

I hope I'll be able to hang on this one. I had a colleague who joined at the same time as myself, but he just submitted his request for transfer yesterday... :(

Well, he said that internal audit wasn't really his 'thing' and that he would be better at the Transactions department. Well, thing is... the department there just recruited on January and it's not likely that he'll get a place there... and now that he submitted his transfer, if he doesn't get the place there, he won't be able to come back. That's really sad, because he had very good qualifications :( (A BSc, an MSc, ACCA 3 and 5 years of experience in banking)

I could go on for pages about my mother. Not the worse one in the world but I have to say I do hang my head when people ask who my parents are. Hats off to a great dad. Just a not so great mom.

I am not working right now. I have had a couple interviews. One job I turned down the other I wasn't offered. I am having some terrible times with this because I love working and here I am at home doing nothing. I have two friends who have had promotions since I have been laid off. Brings me down. I am honestly not in a good spot emotionally right now. But on the brighter side its been amazing spending quiet time in the afternoon with the hubby. I am able to enjoy things before I never have had time for.

Mine were just the opposite. I loved my dad, but he was a character. My mom was great.

Maybe it's just what you need now, then. Sorry you aren't in a good place. You have such a great attitude that I know you will come out of this well.

Well I guess for every bad there is a good. It started tough staying home and seeing him all day. He works midnights. So when he is sleeping and tired I was getting angry and thinking he was a lazy arse. But then it clicked. That's his schedule. I never had reason to pay attention before since I worked all day. But now its perfect. I put my son on the bus, go to the gym a few hours which is total heaven for me. I have muscles! Woo hoo I think if I didn't have "my thing" which is the gym then I would really be crazy.

Why the job change for you? For the better I hope.

The powers that be decided to close our office and service our clients from a nearby California office. I could have stayed on and worked out of my house, but I only want to work another year before having a baby so I didn't want to take a job from someone who had longer range plans. Plus, one of our clients was looking for someone for a temporary (1 year) position to cover for their CFO while she was staying home with a new baby - she's due in August. It was a perfect fit for me. I only want to work one year, it's a client I like, and it's in an industry where I have a lot of experience. It's also going to be a new experience, and I'm ready for that.

Good for you. Funny how things just fell in place with your plans. I was actually going to ask you about baby plans. I almost considered a second one while I was home. But I am happy with one. Truly I am. He is a good boy.

I will pop back in a few. I am painting a wall. Yes a new house and I am painting already. I didn't want it white any more. It was old. Time for change. So while its nice and I can open the windows I am going to get it done. I will be back. If I miss you enjoy your BBQ and we can catch up again soon I hope.

Well, we have been talking about the whole baby issue for a while. John is ready right now, but I wanted some time alone with him. When this opportunity came up, we decided the timing couldn't be better. We plan to start trying in October (our anniversary) and hope by the time my one year job is done that I'll be pregnant. I was an only child, which had a lot of benefits. Still, I think I'd like at least two. We'll see how it goes.

Have fun painting your wall. ;) When I am off in 2 weeks, I don't go back to work for 7 weeks. I'm also planning on doing some interior painting. Haha - you could come help me. It would be fun. :)

Yep, a baby - I'm already excited about the possibility. :) I'm lucky that I don't really have to work, so I'm planning to stay home until our kids are school age. I can always do some consulting work or work from home if I want.

We're going to head out for a walk/run now. Pete saw me grab his leash and he's impatiently waiting for me.

Talk to you later. :)

Yeah Bear, been working and working a little more on the MMO, and learning some more programming. I started with perl, got in the middle then moved to tcl when I learned it's faster to interpret, and I tried to have a look at Go, not the other AMHD skin but the go computer language. Strangely, that too gives me headaches :o

Anyway, I have a problem with a current tcl script right, it now and again clears the ban list :( And I don't know what in-build script does that. So I'm trying to hunt it thought the pages of codes...

Yes, I had to walk quite a long way today on the return journey from the warehouse. The nearest bus stop is like 1 km from the warehouse :(

We had your field leader's car in the morning, but he had to bring it to servicing at noon. Tomorrow morning, we are meeting at the bus station at 8 am and get a bus. Then walk again that long path to the warehouse... pfft just thinking about that makes me tired, lol. :p

Unky, you are young. 1 km should be easy for you, unless of course you are carrying audit bags. When I worked in L.A. I had to park a mile from my office on the days I went in there - parking in the building was too expensive. I would be in a suit, high heels, carrying my purse, and 2 heavy audit bags - a mile each way.

Unknown008

I don't think that anyone would want to go through pages of scripts just to get that particular function which I want removed :p

Tcl is okayish, quite similar to perl, which itself is derived from C/C++ I think. I hear that C# is win ;). But the main reason I'm using tcl is that my shell/direct command line can interpret those languages easily, while for C/C++/java, I need to download a compiler, which I rather find pointless if I might swap language midway, like I did for perl, though I'm still more at ease with it right now.

Anyway, the difference between the core language and the one which I'm using is that mine also contains functions for IRC (I think). Currently, the scripts I put myself are a uno script and a timezone script. The latter is a little slow because it does a big search on Google. :o

I am getting by. With the income cut in half its causing me some serious stress. The hubby doesn't seem to get that and still spends like I am out working. But that's the way it is. I can talk until I am blue in the face and he agrees but he is who he is. He uses that debit card worse then any woman I know. Lucky for us we have never fought over financial problems so its good.

No job luck. I just applied to Alcoa here for an accounting position. Not sure if you know of them. Here in the states they would. I am not holding my breath though. In my small area its all who you know. We have been all moved in since October so at least I am happy being stuck home in a new house! Gawd I am so broke too Sunny. The old ex decided to buy a new bed for himself and thought this wa smore important than paying child support. Gahh. I am filing the paper work on Tuesday for mandatory child support payments. I wish we could have been civil and remained friends for the sake of E, but I just don't see it happening. I've given him 3 years to man up and be the father he should be, but it's always about him. Everything in his life comes first. If he needs new shoes, E suffers, if he needs new pants, he doesn't send money that month. Doesn't he think I would like a new bed or new clothes? Just because I buy something new or have bills to pay doesn't mean she doesn't need to eat or live in a home!

I really wanted to enroll her in swimming lessons, but I just can't afford it this year. I feel awful. But I am doing the best I can with what I have. I won't be returning to school I don't think next September, I should really find a job. Sigh. Sorry for the vent guys.

It's a long week end here! I hope everyone has a great week end. And enjoy your parties Sunny! :) :)

I admire single moms for being there for their kids, bella. Vent all you want here, we will always listen and try to help. Yes, a long weekend is always good even if most people don't remember it is celebrating Queen Victorias birthday.

You vent, rant and rave all you want bella. I have a husband who helps and you know what even then its still hard sometimes. I have sat back many times over and wondered how girls like you do it. By like you I mean single moms with little help. Its hard. I give you a big cheers because I tried it for two months and it scared me to death. I was worried sick all the time. I was worried about dating again and what someone would do to my son or I. It's a crazy world out there. But your doing well and for that be proud.

Congrats on your big sale Sunny!

For that, you need to come visit me today. I have 5 1/2 hours here at work today and you can help it go fast, along with a full house here people!!

I will probably watch a movie in that time so that should give you guys a two hour break.

Oh, I never said because I forgot I think, but I went to my new job to get a physical yesterday and everything went well.

Honestly I forgot all that nonsense until later that evening and I saw it all over my FB page. Then I realized how funny that the world could have done whatever it was going to do and I was clueless the entire time.

I hate it when plans never work out. Isn't best just to wing it sometimes.

I am just catching the news about the tornado in Missouri and oh my god its so sad. What has happened to the weather. This year has been out of control every where. Maybe the world is coming to an end but not as predicted.

adam_89
May 23, 2011, 07:11 AM
Yea it was a last second plan my friend invited me to go camping and then dnr ran us off because the place just became illegal to camp this year.

You could be right, the weather is awfully strange this year. A lot of bad stuff happening. It is sad about Missouri

adam_89
May 23, 2011, 07:21 AM
Yes, I love to camp, it is a good time, exactly how the camping trip was supposed to go but dnr had other plans. Then I made one of my friends mad because I didn't invite him to go with me, when I wasn't the one who planned and I was the one invited now he won't even talk to me. So it turned into a bad time. Haha

Sunny, I agree with your comment about my friend, we always do this kind of thing and he turns childish and stops being my friend until someone dies.

Doing good here too, the moving is somehow tiring since I get up early just for the sake of not missing the bus, then getting home at about 6/6.30 pm. There is (hopefully, but unfortunately) one last day at the hotel, then I'm back to the office to process and finalise all the documents. I succeeded in putting two more kilos since I got to go to the hotel, the food there is yummy and there is so much! :p But I feel I'll lose them again in a few days :(

I bet. It sounds like a career move versus a job. I was excited for you reading about it.

Unky - I know exactly what you mean. I used to travel so much for my job, eating out all the time. I had to be really careful. Do you know what your next project will be? That was what I really enjoyed about working for an accounting firm - always a new challenge and meeting new people. The travel was fun for a while, but it got old.
