I got my period on December 22 2010, my next period due on January, my cycle is between 26-30 days, on January 22, I got 3 drops of really pale pink something I thought was my period coming, but nothing the rest of the day; for the following 4 days I got on and off a little bit of brown discharge mostly when I wiped, pads were practically clean all day, can I count that as my last period? I am 44 years old last year my hormonal panel results were viewed by my gynecologist and she said I was still very regular and not even near pre-menopause... after those 4 days of only brown discharge (and not even during the entire day) I have had about 4 days or more of very low back pain and some cramping on my lower abdomen/pelvic area... then in the afternoon I feel quite tired and runned down... I also have less appetite, the pelvic cramping is usually when I wake up and lasts about 1 hour or so then it goes. I have never had this happen before.

I was supposed to have my period on Thursday ( 8/23/12) and instead of my period I have had brown spotting with some hints of bright red blood, but that is not consistent. It has lasted only until today (8/28/12). This has NEVER happened to me. Should I take a pregnancy test, and if so, is it too early for accurate results?
