My son's pediatric dentist put some sealants on his baby teeth because he's prone to cavity. I always trusted his dentist but lately I'm wondering if she tries to make money out of her patients by doing unnecessary procedures.
A few months ago my son had two filling on his molars but I just found out that those two teeth were the ones that had sealants. The sealants were done 15 months ago.
Is it possible to have cavities 15 months after sealants ? I don't know if I will trust his dentist anymore.

Confused mom in suburban NY.

Sealants are not permanent and can wear away and/or fall off. If the teeth were not kept well isolated (dry) when the sealants were placed or if the sealant was applied too heavy they can fall off very easy.

I'd question the dentist about it but I'm sure you'll be told the same thing.
