Find the points of intersection of the following functions

y = (x+1)^2 and y = - x^2 + x + 4

If possible can you also show how to check results on graphics calculator. Thanks

I don't know how to use a graphics calculator, but you can solve this by using simultaneous equations and plugging the values you got back in the original equations to see if they are good.

y = (x+1)^2

y = -x^2 + x + 4

This becomes:

 (x+1)^2 = -x^2 + x + 4

Expand and solve the quadratic. Post what you get! :)

If you have a graphing calculator, all you have to do is graph the two given functions and see where they intersect.

As you can see, there are 2 POI.
