I was trying to open the stopper with wrench but it broke the brass inside it. Stopper was of another kind which has screw underneath and I rotate it with force which let to brake it.

The remaining part of the brass object is stuck inside.

What does the brass object called ? How should I change it

Hi Ipskang...

You should just need to purchase TUB DRAIN REMOVAL TOOL (called a dumbbell wrench) and a new TOE TOUCH strainer replacement... see images. You'll also want to pick up some plumber's putty and some pipe dope.

Stick the tool into the drain so it engages the cross members of the strainer and twist counterclockwise to remove. Most likely, you'll need a pair of pliers to turn the tool. Once the unit is out it should be as easy as putting some putty around the lip of the new strainer replacement, putting pipe dope on the threads and then screwing the replacement strainer into the tub waste assembly. The black rubber washer supplied with the replacement goes underneath the tub (bend and put through the hole in tub)

You could also try to use two large flat screwdrivers in place of the tub drain removal tool... just insert into the cross members and cross the screwdrivers across each other to spin the old strainer out... works most of the time... ;)

Mark, I think I have the Push/Pull Stopper . Firstly pull the stopper up, rotate the whole thing so should I purchase Toe Push stopper.

The Strainer image( Second) looks like the stopper but not the strainer which I will pulled from my bathtub ( First image in my link)

Does Toe Stopper consists of Stopper, inside brass and the Strainer?

All the objects in my images link are waste ?

However, you can use a toe stopper or a twist and spin type like you had... either one works fine and both swap out the same way... :)

I saw those pics. At the first post so all is good!

The strainer replacements come as a kit exactly as below... only in packages. The kit will include everything but the plumber's putty and the pipe dope.

Remember, the black washer goes under the tub (bend and squeeze through tub hole), putty under the lip of the new strainer and pipe dope on the threads. Be sure to remove the old rubber washer under the tub, too... OK?

Images in your last message doesn't contain image of strainer ( Image 1 in my link) which I will remove from the bathtub using tube drain removal tool or

Flat screw drivers.

Will it include that part also?

The cross member is a part of the strainer assembly... comes built into each drain.

Remember your:

Tub drain removal tool (or screwdrivers)

Lift and twist drain replacement kit

Putty

Pipe dope

I couldn't find the Lift & lock bathtub drain at Home Hardware yesterday. Today I found it at Canadian Tire. It has everything. I have few questions before I remove the old drain from the bathtub

1. Do I need thread also?

2. Can I use the open old drain as shown in Images ?

Thread... what kind of thread? Sewing thread? No thread needed here.

When you remove the old strainer you should only be left with the tub shoe UNDER the tub.

Remove the strainer and the rest should be obvious.

Note here, that I noticed some silicone under the lip of the old strainer... I'm thinking you will need those screwdrivers I mentioned earlier to get enough leverage to unscrew the old strainer, OK?
