I've only been out of high school for about 10 years - have things really changed that much? When I was in middle school, we might have had "boyfriends", but that just meant you liked each other and hung out together. Our parents didn't let us date. No, that fun started in high school.

Too many children are trying to grow up too fast. Unfortunately, it isn't anything new. The period when children had what we think of as childhoods was very brief and limited to very few places.

I don't believe that 10 years ago cell phones and IM's were like they are today either. Before our parents used to regulate who we were talking to in some way or another. In today's times there almost is no policing by many parents at all. Many just don't want a high bill and figure nothing will come of it.

I thought you made a great point, but I bet it will go over her head. I also wonder if she came back on as Sanborn.
I must have been lucky. We had all kinds of group activities in middle school with guys and girls, but there was no pressure beyond that. Our big concern was finding moms that were willing to drive us up to Lake Tahoe for the day during the summer and for skiing during the winter. We had fun. In high school, it was about whose parents would let 20-40 kids come to their house. My parents did about once a month, so we could play pool, watch videos, listen to music. I know it was a lot more fun than what these kids are getting involved in - if they could only see.
Suddenly, I feel so old. :p

So far she is behaving herself if she did. I find it interesting that two people post with about the same question within thirty minutes of the first one getting a response she didn't like. However, I am willing to give both of them a chance. Teens these days do seem to have about the same problems.

No, he was taking a leisurely stroll in the woods and had eaten too many carrots. He discreetly went behind a tree because he needed to drop some little bunny pellets, but much to his surprise there was a bear already behind the tree doing the same thing.
The rabbit was in shock didn't know what to do. Suddenly the bear turned to the rabbit and said "Excuse me, does poo stick to your fur?"
The rabbit advised the bear that no, poo does not stick to his fur.
Imagine the poor rabbits shock when the bear grabbed him and used him to wipe his bear bum.
To this day the rabbit is afraid to venture into the woods alone. :(

Yes but it was easily washed off in a nearby stream, and than a more thorough washing once the poor little bunny got home.
It took months for him to tell his family what had happened, he was in shock, and ashamed to be used as nothing but toilet paper.
I hear he ended up in therapy and than later invented the extra soft 3 ply toilet paper that's used in the ritzy hotels. :)

Sep 26, 2010, 11:50 PM
I was thinking about the bear's backside.
Sadly the bear suffered no consequences for his actions, that day. He got off scott free with a clean bum and everything.
The good news is that the rabbit, after years of therapy, did do very well for himself. The toilet paper sells like hot cakes and he's now married with a litter of bunnies and a gorgeous wife and home.
Even though the bear did get a clean bum his life did not work out so well. Later that year he found himself face to face with a hunter. He was behind the same bush, doing his thing. The hunter got a clear shot and the bear was made into a rug. That rug is in front of the fireplace at the bunnies home.
I'm sure there's a moral or two to the story, but I'm too tired to think of one. Isn't it enough that I ruined a perfectly good joke? :p

Sand is kind of white. :(
When I was in my teens, my grandparents started spending winters in FL or South Texas. We would visit them for Christmas so I know what you mean.
When I moved to southern TN, I pretty much gave up on the concept of a white Christmas, but it should at least be cold.
Once you know what a white Christmas is and experienced it... there is no way back. :)

It's got to be a white Christmas! One year we my family and I spent Christmas in Budapest, it was so magical. I have always had a passion for WW2 and seeing the old war torn buildings was amazing in it's self, but to see the town lit up in lights and decorations and the people dressed in the fashions of Europe, it was right out of a Christmas carol.
I find now with E around, I found a bit of that Christmas spirit I lost in my teens. It's so fun to do the sleigh rides, and the ice skating, snow men, tobogganing, etc... And it's even better because she remembers who Santa was from last year, so this year she is really going to be into it. I can't wait!

We have some awesome White Christmases here in Ut.
Clear up to your B Ut street. And higher occasionally.
It is an experience that stays with you , it is staggering to see 18" to 24" of sparkling snow on everything. And the colored Christmas lights sparkling and reflecting off the snow makes you feel like you live in a Christmas card.
And shoveling your way out of the house , to the driveway , then to the street in order to get your car out... makes you feel like you're the centerpiece in a Get Well Card . Or will be when you black out from shoveling 22 tons of beauty out of your way. The ambulance lights reflect off the snow nicely , even better than the lights from the Christmas tree.
Happy Holidays!

Still high 80's here, a little higher than average.
Coldest day recorded in September is 28 F. -2.22 Sept 13 1928
The warmest 90 F 32.2 C Sept 30 ,2002
Right now is the best weather we get all year, and I always try to get out both days.

In Arizona, you'll have a long wait, right? Isn't that your winter weather?
I just looked at Big Sur,CA where we are getting married next week. It's calling for the 70's. That will be really pleasant there. :)

Yes. Our winter consists of 60-70's. It's very nice. That will last until March, then back to the good old hot days.
Congrats on the wedding.:) You will have a nice one, with it in the 70's. That's perfect.

Your winter weather sounds so nice. We're typically around 20-30 degrees, with the nights dipping lower. The coldest we ever got that I remember was a minus 24. That was bad news.
Thanks. It will be nice if it stays in the 70's. We hope to marry outside on a bluff overlooking the ocean. If not we'll move indoors, but I always wanted to marry outside.

Just over a year. I knew him casually as a neighbor and fellow runner for a year before that, but he'd see me with my ex and I knew he was dating someone. One day last summer, about a month after I broke up with the ex, that all changed... and then my whole world changed. :D

The Moab , Arches area is home base for running The Colorado and The Green Rivers.
I spent from April to September there for a number of years.
But my time was on one of those rivers hauling people through the white water.
I got 4 days a month off to go to Greenriver , or Moab
It is one of my favorite places

Yes we had dinner and took the boat up river for the sunset scenic tour, absolutely fantastic. And I loved the historical areas and the petroglifs also. A different and very beautiful area.
And the sunsets... wow.

I went to Chicago shortly after the Democratic Convention to protest at the trial of the Chicago 7.
The sunsets through the clouds of tear gas were better than I expected.
My more recent visits were less hectic. I really like it there, exciting city... in ways you don't expect.

If they are too large, maybe you can upload to an image hosting site instead and post the link. The image would surely be huge, lol.
I use tinypic.com for medium images and p1cture.me for bigger ones. (except that for the latter, your images become public =/.)
