QP, tea and honey usually help me feel somewhat more human when I have the flu. I hope you feel better fast. {{{{QP}}}}
Bear, all is going well here. My son, husband and a couple of friends are playing Dungeons and Dragons. I am laughing at mishaps and missed traps. :)
JLo, Carolyn will make a wonderful mother from what I have seen and heard of her. I can't wait for pictures. ;)

You need to have a good feed of boiled dinner. When ever we were sick as children, my nannie used to make us boiled dinner.
Is it the actual flu, or is it a head cold?

Italian. Young. Spirited. Tough. The absolute definition of sexy.
And she had "sniper vision" according to the govt enforcement agency for which she worked.

You never know KP, you may find me knocking on your door one day. I don't think the husband is as big a hurdle as the lack of passport. May take me longer to get a passport than it will take to get rid of the ball n chain. ;)
I do love the big oaf. He's lucky, because I almost killed him in Walmart today. Tensions were running high, it was the last store of 5 others today looking for the elusive items left on the back to school list. I was tired, the kids were tired, hubby, he wanted to check out all the sales bins, even though the things on sale weren't the things we were looking for. I was done. I wasn't in the mood to look through a huge box of old movies with titles I'd never even heard, or a box of loose socks hoping to find a pair. I just wanted to get what we came for and leave.
Okay, I'm working myself up again. So tell me KP dear, if you and I were together would you be wise enough (after trekking around all over Dog's green earth all day) to not recommend that your tired wife look at movies that are $1.00 with titles like "I left my harp in Sam clams disco", or to suggest we go through a box the size of my mini van to see if we can find a matching pair of tube socks because they're only 50 cents each?
If you are, I may be at your door sooner than you think . ;)

I remember one new years... my cousin was getting smack talk from my then-wife. Her mental processor is so damn fast. She refuses to say the first four things that comes into her mind, but the fifth, it still stings like isopropyl cohol on road rash.
So she lays into him. He is half drunk. And he looks to me to defend him. Some Brotherhood of the Scrotum thing.
Nada.
Dude is on his own. I'm actually happy some other schmuck is taking flak instead of me.
So... you man might be in good company with others... but don't expect us to own up to it when your trigger finger is tight and the hammer is back.

How did they make out Red?
Ciara is in primary school, seems fine, after some questions I learned that she did nothing today, learned nothing, nothing happened, all in all normal!
She's turning into a pre teen already.
Aoife is going to cork to college, has me robbed of bed sheets, cups, pots etc,she can't wait to go.
The student apartments are lovely,in fact there quite swish.
Her father is paying for it,I would have perfered something a little less expensive, she has delusions of granduer, tis far from posh she was reared, wreaks my head! but she's in a safe area, which is good.
The hound (emer),is supposed to be going to a local college, but she's so lazy and laid back I fear getting her out of bed will be a challenge.
Weather is amazing,lovely heat,clear skies.

Hello Stringer... and everyone else of course, Nice save from Joe Joe.
I was without a computer for almost two months. I just bought a new computer last Thursday. So I am all hooked up again. I visited the library occasionally to use the internet but never enough time.
I just got a full time rotation plus I am taking a course in order to continue doing what I am doing. Busy this summer with lots of hours and overtime.
Also getting a sleep study tomorrow morning. They are suspecting sleep apnea. So my sleep has been more messed up lately then all the years past.
So it is good to be back and glad to have a new computer, used computers are not all they are cracked up to be, still have to bring the old hard drive in to get pictures and videos , etc...
Well I do feel like I am in a circus at times, but sure will join this circus too. Lol

That is what the doctor thinks I will need is the sleep apnea machine. Did the sleep study today. I was up for over 24 hours and felt like it took me forever to get to sleep. So they gave me a sleeping pill. They told me it might take up to 6 to 8 weeks to get any results from this study.

I have no problem sleeping, it's staying asleep that's the issue. R snores, loudly. I wake up at least 15 times a night because he's snoring so loud.
The other night Syd came into our room, asked if I could do something about Daddy because he woke her up. She's down the hall, both of our door were closed. That's how loud he is.

Not quite 'new and exciting'. Exams in 43 days exactly starting with General Paper (English + General Knowledge) and Maths.
I need to catch up with my Physics, it's the subject I'm the least confident about...
But in Chemistry and Maths, I'm keeping the level. General Paper, apart from trying to keep up with news, there's not much to do. French is more or less okay.
Oh, an I'm going on a cruise in December :p
It's R 80 000 (Canadian dollars: 2,805.38) per adult, free for minors and it's for 2 weeks.
That's really cheap if we work out the daily fee! 130 Can $ per day, all food included! We'll be having New Year's Eve during the voyage. We'll be visiting some islands in the Indian Ocean, and some African countries I think.

Alty
Sep 1, 2010, 11:26 PM
We use the snap traps. R bought the sticky traps once and I was horrified. We cleaned out the garage and apparently we had a nest with tiny babies. They got scared when we started cleaning, ran for the door and got caught in the sticky trap.
The trap said there's poison that kills them within seconds. Not true. They die of starvation.
One of the babies only had his little bum stuck to the trap so I tired to save him. I couldn't get him off, I just made him suffer more, so I gave up.
I finally ended up filling a pail with water and drowning them. At least that was better than them dying a slow death.
It still breaks my heart just to think about it.
The snap traps still kill them, but it's instant, just snap and dead, no pain, no suffering.

Aw, I'm sorry Unky, I didn't mean to make you sad.
Yes, my cold is better today. I also had my pre-op appointment today and the good news is they may not have to do surgery. The bad news is that they're going to try banding (did 3 today) the um, thingies. :o
I wasn't prepared to go home with a very sore butt today, but I did. I don't like this banding thing. I also don't like the fact that he asked if two of his interns could come in and watch.
Here I am, on the bed, on my side, rolled into a fetal position, butt hanging out for the world to see and he's talking about my "issues" as if I'm just a science experiment. All I could think about is the fact that Sneezy will one day be an intern and I can just imagine the jokes he'd make if he was in the office with me today.
Sadly I have to go back in 6 weeks for more torture. :(
Is that a better topic?

Here's what really scares me Stringer. I just googled it, and apparently every other doctor puts their patients under when doing this procedure. Mine didn't. Also, most doctors only do 1 at a time because more than that would be too painful. Mine did 3.
I am in pain, not happy, and now I'm finding out that most people never get 3 done at once.
I found one website (a Q & A site like AMHD) where one guy said he only got one done and had to go on vicodin for a week because the pain was so bad.
My doctor said it wouldn't hurt. He lied! :(
Surgery is the next option, if this doesn't work. Apparently the pain of the surgery is far wore than the banding.

All I could think about is the fact that Sneezy will one day be an intern and I can just imagine the jokes he'd make if he was in the office with me today.
Sadly I have to go back in 6 weeks for more torture. :(
Is that a better topic?
(my bad :( didn't read every post before I posted)
Well, with the new half skin being released today(in a 50/50 way)Imagine what a playground for the 3 ring, Barnum and Bailey will have going on this week"?

The latest user interface, now known as Go (was ff), is being implemented on half of the new users starting sometime today.
At least there is warning this time. I thank the management for that. :)

Okay, I have to stop thinking that avatars tell me something about the poster. Whenever I see an avatar with a person in it, I assume it's the poster, a general likeness of the poster, etc. Just read that FoxCash is a woman. That was a surprise. For the longest time, I thought KC was a weightlifter. I feel like I know exactly what Smoothy looks like, and of course we all know Stringer looks just like a famous movie star. :o
I'm about to change my avatar to a red-haired bride. I'm really not a palm tree. :p
So which dog do I look like? :p

All the guys are very handsome, and all the nice girls are drop dead gorgeous.
Then there are the trolls and they look like... well... trolls.
I have always been one to judge a person based on personality and kindness. I've met people that aren't much to look at, but when you get to know them, they're the most beautiful people in the world. I've also met gorgeous people that could be on the covers of magazines, but get to know them, and they're not as pretty as you think.
It all depends on the goodness of your heart. If you're a good person your inner beauty comes shining through.
So you, we're all drop dead gorgeous. :)

Bear, watch it, I remember that circus. Of course I was knee high to a grasshopper when they came around, but still, I remember.
Be good, I'm feeling about weird about turning 40 in less than two weeks. :(
I didn't think this would bother me, but it does. Whoda thunk? Age is just a number, you're only as young as you feel, blah, blah, blah, but the truth is, I feel 40. :(
Sigh. Ya, I'm feeling sorry for myself again. What happened to my 20's? Where did the 30's go? Before you know it I'll be 6 feet under, only a memory.
Again... sigh, and a :: pout, pout, pout:: thrown in for good measure.

I'll get over it, but wait until I turn 50, I may be in a corner sucking my thumb and crying. No offense to those over 50. :o
I just feel too young to be 40. The 20 something's don't help. Sneezy has been calling me old for 3 years now, little bugger. I did remind him that when he's 40, my little Syd will be his age now. :)

LOL! No, I can't Kit. I do have a nice pension awaiting me from the insurance company I worked for, but other than that, I get nothing. I haven't worked often enough, or long enough (since the kids were born) to collect anything.

Of course you'll make it to 40 silly bear.
Also, you still have to come visit me. You promised. Bella is coming next year for 2 weeks, I'm excited, my first AMHD visitor.
All my friends have an open invitation, if they don't mind sleeping on a pull out couch with the bunnies. Not literally with the bunnies. They won't be in the bed with you, but they'll be in the same room. On the bright side, the pull out couch is in our family room, nice size TV, wii and xbox access, a fireplace, and your own bathroom (well, you have to share it with Jared but it has a jucuzzi (sp?) tub).
So, any takers?

I think it's the same as a pension plan, isn't it?
I've never heard of ssi, so no, I don't think we have it.
We barely have pension anymore. Nowadays it's up to the individual to save for retirement because there's no guarantee that you'll get anything for working your arse off for 40 plus years. That's why there are so many 80 year olds working in McDonalds. They can't afford to retire. :(

In the U.S. we have pension plans (private) and SSI (government). The government one takes money from your paycheck and it doesn't matter if you want them to or not. Private pension plans are totally voluntary. Some companies offer them as an incentive. And after those are retirement savings plans you may have heard of like 401k.

We do have ssi then, or the same thing with a different name. We do get money taken out every cheque towards retirement, but it's called the pension plan.
We don't have a 401k, as far as I know. I'd never heard of it until I joined this site.

We had our house built so we had many options. We put in the jucuzzi tub because of my back problems. It does help, and it's really nice to sit in a deep tub, jets going. :)
We had to put it in the basement bathroom because of the weight. We live in a bi-level and the basement is nice an bright, very open, lots of natural light. Jared's bedroom is in the basement, as is the family room, the bunny room, the computer corner, the laundry room etc. etc. It's a small house, but it works for us. :)
I'm really glad we put in the jucuzzi tub. Because we did it with the home builder it only cost an extra $200 when we had it built. :)
