My dad repeatedly sends money to my brother who in university... and my brother keeps spending it repeatedly. He has spent about 22000 UsD in one term. He used to be my mentor.. but not anymore. It's becoming... quite serious, I think he might have a drug/alcoholic problem.. . Being the younger brother, I now feel that there's a lot of pressure on me to succeed academically. How should I try and deal with the situation?

I know what its like to be accademically successful 2 live up to someone else my sistas at uni and she spend £50 60 or even more on simple things like food and soap and stuff and it all adds up but if your really worried go and visit your brother and c if there's a change in his behavior

You dad seems to be enabling your brothers problems.
Your Dad should set a budget with your budget, and let him sink if he goes over it.
But, you won't be able to change your Dad's mind or his actions, so might as well not let it bug you so much.
If you haven't spoken to your Dad about this though, you should let him know how you feel.
Other than that, there isn't much you can do but try your best.
And if you don't do super well and your folks get on your case, tell them to screw it. You are still doing far better than your brother!

The money arrangements are between your dad and your brother so do your best to stay out of that.
Have you expressed your concerns about his problems to your brother? What did he say? If you have proof of your brother being in serious trouble, then you might want to let your parents in on it, but only with proof since they may have trouble believing it. Sad to say but if he is an alcoholic/addict, it will only progress and eventually become known, so there it that to consider too.
Your brother is not the measure of who you are, remind yourself of that. Be your own man, find and use your own gifts. Remind your parents of this too, if necessary. Good luck and thanks for posting.

Just talk to your mom and dad about this, but really listen to whatt everyone's else is saying is true you really shoulnt worry too much about what your brothers doing if he's doing something wrong it will be only a matter of time.
If you want to talk to your dad about your concerns about your brother using do that just don't talk about your brother using them and anything else just talk about your brothers addiction your dad will figure out the rest..
Take care and wish you the best
