I just paid4K to get into a rental owned by a landlord.
Now he won't move his stuff out (he used to live there).
Sofas. TV's, computers, snowboards, skis, garage and whole house filled with HIS STUFF. I have lots of lovely furniture and piano and have to store it!
I s this legal. There is nothing in the lease that says "as is" and nowhere does it say he would do this. Anybody know if this is legal??

What State? Send him a letter, return receipt, and advise him you want his "stuff" out of there so you can move your "stuff" in. Otherwise (and give a time limit) you are holding the rent in escrow pending a resolution.

And then do just that - open a separate account, put the rent money in it, wait for him to take you to Court or move his "stuff" out.

I am guessing you will get advice to charge him storage fees BUT you cannot do that unless it is by mutual consent because you have a lease and only a document in writing can modify that lease. My second guess is that he's NEVER going to sign such an agreement.
