I know asphalt shingles per bundle/square has gone up considerably the last several years.. I remember getting 25 year three tab shingles for around 30 dollars per square.. then it was bumped to around 45 dollars per square on avg. and these days a square on average for dimensionals (4 bundles to a square) exceeds 100 dollars a square.. my question is for the pros who might want to help me bid on the avg. labor costs.. in this case it is a one story low pitch ranch design.. straight run , walkable and was wondering about going over the existing single layer dimensionals with the same 30 yr brand shingle and putting in a ridge vent.. how much should I bid per square? Knowing I'll need to knife hook and weather underlayment the first three feet portion on a 60ft run. Is it probably best tearoff the whole 18 square but going over the single layer existing would save the cost of rubish removal and the additional labor associated with tearing off and cleanup etc. so what is the going rate in northern New Jersey? Thanks ahead , john

I guess I should answer my own question.. these days, I'll have to take when I can get! Can't imagine tradesmen are getting the better deal these tough econmic days! Thanks anyway!
