Have limited connectivity. Ipconfig displays apipa ip address. Device manager says ethernet port is functioning properly. Still can't renew ip address.

Probably a router problem. Reboot your router, unplug, wait thirty seconds, plug back in and see what happens.
Also, make sure your computer doesn't have a static IP address. If it is static and set for a different network, then it would cause problems with your current configuration.

Can you connect when you insert a network cable? If you can then your router might be at fault but more likely you have a firewall issue. What anti virus are you running? Norton?
