Hello,
We have a 40 year old house with a roof that needs to be both reroofed and insulated.
The house is an A-Frame and the ceiling / roof consists of interlocking pine board on the inside, with cedar shingles on the outside. From what we can tell, there is nothing more than tar paper in between the two - perhaps a sheet of plywood but nothing more.
We are considering a metal roof to replace the shingles and want to add insulation to the roof itself. We're open to insulating on both the outside and the inside, but are unsure of the best way to proceed - every roofing company has a different idea. At this point, we're thinking of consulting with a structural engineer to get a design that we can take to roofing companies for a quote.
Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jenn
