My daughter is going to a junior college she is 19 & living at home with her mother I was divoricd in MO. Which states I'll pay child support until she is 21 while going to school. How can I give the money to my daughter instead of her mother.

Thank you for your response

P.S. They know live in IL.

You cant. The money doesn't go to the child. The money goes to the supporting parent. Child support is for the custodial parent to do with as s/he sees fit.

Depends on what state you live in. If you still live in MO then there isn't much that can be done. If you live in another state also you might be able to seek modification of the child support from the state where she is living in now. When making the modification you could continue to pay until 21 but instead pay the money to a trust for school costs.

I don't think that would fly. Child support is to cover ALL expenses, not school specific expenses.

Mostly its going to depend on the state that has jurisdiction. If IL has jurisdiction and child support there stops at 18 and graduated high school then he might be able to get a modification. And at that time still meet his commitment to his daughter. Child support is for children and there is no guarantee of college. That's the line Im following.
