I am trying to remember the title of (I think) an early 90's kid fantasy movie. From what I can remember, it 's about a pre-teen boy who wishes he didn't have parents (or maybe just a mom) and wanders into this fantasy land. I think that the fantasy land is only "accessible" during the day or night or something like that. The fantasy land is somewhat like a marketplace. From what I can remember about the marketplace, it is filled with "weird" and "different" types of people, maybe circus performers. The boy at first really enjoys being in this place, but then something goes "bad" and he gets homesick (I think) and wants to go back to regular life. And maybe at the end of the movie he goes back to this location and it is no longer there? I remember seeing it in the early 90's but it could have been from the 80's. I know that it is not: Big or Little Monsters. Thanks for any answers or suggestions.
