I met this girl at work and really liked her, so I asked her out. She told me that she couldn't because she just went through a messy breakup and she was going to stay out of dating for awhile. So, as time went on, we talked at work and she started to warm up to me. Talking to me more, smiling at me, etc... She then was leaving for another job and told me that she would keep in touch, that I had nothing to worry about. I got her a card which she came in for me to give to her. She read it, thanked me, and gave me a hug and said that she would email me and we'd hang out.

So, fast forward to the first time that we got together. We were supposed to go to lunch at a place that she chose, but when driving to look for it the night before, it was gone. So, I called her the next morning so that we could change our plans. She told me that she had been tossing and turning all night long and she really didn't feel like eating, so she suggested we just meet for coffee.

When I got there, she was a different person from the one I knew, sort of cold (she was usually really nice and sweet) and really negative. She told me that the reason for her fitful night was me and that she just couldn't do this. She told me how her last two boyfriends had cheated on her. She doesn't want a man in her life now and maybe as long as a year. So when I got home and recovered from stunned disbelief, I composed my thoughts and sent her an email telling her how I felt about all of this. She knows that I would never do to her the things that her exes did, but that doesn't seem to matter. I then sent her flowers the next day which really sent her over the edge. She was pissed and sent me a nasty email basically telling me to stop pursuing her and forget about her.

I know that she liked me, that she was warming up to the idea of doing things with me. I just don't understand how her attitude towards me could shift 180 degrees over night forcing her to slam the door in my face before even getting to know me. I've been inexplicably drawn to this girl from day one and I've been a lot more persistent than I've ever been in my life. It's killing me that she would do this to me and I don't think that there is anything else that I can do without looking like a crazy stalker.

Is there nothing left that I can do ?

Firstly I feel for you buddy! Im going through my own situation I asked for help with on here so may not be best qualified to answer this for you, but maybe something has happened to upset her, ex boyfriend coming back into her life and making things harder for her for example. I don't know what advice to give, other than what I would do in this situation... which is let her know that your upset that she didn't give you two a cahnce to work, but you value her friendship and would like to remain as friends... maybe and hopefully (if its what you still want then) you can try again when she's gotten to know you more/worked through whatever issues she has

Hope it helps!
