When I turn on the hot water faucet in tub I get this loud roar. Not until hot water is running! At first it's not loud. As soon as hot water starts running, then the roar begins. The cold water does not make a roar; neither does the shower. Just the hot water faucet. It's a old house (40yrs.old) Never had a problem before. I put a new reseat and washer on stem and it was probably about 2 or 3 weeks later we started getting this noise. I have no leaks. Any suggestions!

Sounds like trhe screw that secured the washer loosened up. Shut the water off, open up the valve and tighten the screw. Good luck, Tom

I tried removing faucet valve and replaced washer (which did not look bad nor loose screw) but still same result. Hot water sounds very loud roar until you turn on shower or turn off hot water all together.

Hi bogeyman

When u replaced the seat ,did u use the same type seat that was in there?

Have checked the seat to see if it is in tight?

Good luck

Chuck

No I did not remove the seat. With no leaks after replacing washer; I did not check seat. Would the seat cause that roar?

Noise is caused by something vibrating. If it's not a loose washer then it's something else in you4r hot water line. When you had the valve open did you turn the hot water back on to flush out vthe supply and valve body. If you haven't then open the valve up again and do it. Is the noise nstill there? This could be a piece of mineral build up that peeled off the pipe wall or a small pebble that got in your system. Let me know what you find. Tom

It turned out that the washer was wrapped around the seat. Replaced seat, stem, and washer. Everything is working fine, now. Thanks everyone for your help!
