RE: Oil Painting

With reference to the above I would like to know if you could assist me in finding out more about the attached picture. I have had the picture stored for a good number of years now, as it was pass down . The picture is portrait, painted in oil on black .velvet. I can just about make out the signature on the bottom of the picture on the right hand side as HURTHDO or HURTADO. On the back of the frame it has printed MEXICO. The picture itself, measures 62cm X 88cm. The frame measures approx. 75.5 cm X 100 cm.

The oil painting is of high quality as you can see from my attached picture and was only taken using a 2.5 mega pixel camera.

Could you provide any information regarding this picture, approximate value and let me know if there would be an interest

Many thanks and I look forward to your reply.

Most quality artwork is done on canvas or artist board, not velvet. The majority of art done on velvet was done as tourist pieces. I would recommend that you take this to someone you trust that has knowledge about art. The Hurtado name is known for artwork, namely Jorge and Rudolfo. Best of luck, Rick
