I just got a new laptop and i was trying to hook it up to my wireless internet. I kept getting messages saying limited or o connectivity. When i checked why it said i needed to renew my IP address but i have no idea how to do this. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

What operating system are you running? Also, is there any security set up on this router (wpa, or wep)?
Forgetting what I wrote above, here are the steps to relase/renew an ip address on xp and vista
If windows XP follow these steps:
-click START
-Click RUN
-(erase whatever is in the white box)
-type cmd ---> lowercase
In the black dos box, type the following
Ipconfig /release
Wait for about 10 seconds, then type:
Ipconfig /renew
Look for the line in the black box that says:
Ethernet Adapter Wireless Network Connection and you should have an IP Address.
For Windows Vista:
-Click START
-Type cmd in the search box at the bottom
-Right Click cmd.exe on top of the list
-Click "Run as administrator"
-Click Continue on the window
The black dos box will appear
-in the black dos box, type the following
Ipconfig /release
Wait for about 10 seconds, then type:
Ipconfig /renew
Hope this helps...

Hey it was working for a while then all of a sudden it disconnected and started giving the same problem as before
So I tried doing what you told me again, the ipconfig /release command worked but whenever I try the ipconfig /renew command it tells me that this comand will not work
