My last real period was on Nov 8th. I never got one in December. I figured because of stress. But I'm pretty sure around Christmas I was ovulating because of the obvious change in my discharge. I had unprotected sex with my husband on christmas day and he didn't pull out when he came. I was told that 14 days after ovulation I should start. I have taken a pregnancy test 2 days ago that came out negative. Is that too early? My cycle is generally around 28-35 days. Tomorrow the 8th will be 14 days. If I don't start could that mean I'm pregnant?

Those pregnancy tests are pretty darn accurate. In order to ease your mind, I would take the test one more time and then go see a doctor if you still are not comfortable with the results of the test. Question: Do you want to be pregnant? Part of me thinks that you may be disappointed over the fact that the tests you took came up negative. The other part thinks that you are stressing over the possibility of being pregnant, which may have an effect on your cycle.

Well my husband and I weren't planning on children until later. But when I knew there was a possibility I really wanted it. I didn't miss my period in dec due to stress of a baby, it was stress of other things. I do really want it, and I just think I took it too early. But anyway thank you for taking the time to read my question.

Since you're not completely sure when you ovulated (though if you noticed your cervical fluids changed, you're probably correct within a 48 hour time frame) you can't be sure the 8th was 14 days after ovulation.

Wait to test at least a few more days, then you should have a pretty accurate result.

Thank you. I wasn't clear before and I'm sorry. I meant it's been 14 days today since I had the unprotected sex.

If your cycle usually ranges about 28-35 days then you could still have another week to go. But if you believe you ovulated on 12/25 then you would be due for your period today. Some women have trouble getting accurate results via home pregnancy tests so you could just be one of those women.

If you decide to test again at home, remember to use your first morning urine, it has the highest hormone concentration. And it wouldn't hurt to treat yourself as if you are pregnant until you know for sure... for example, take a prenatal (if you have a couple bucks to spend on one, they wouldn't hurt you) and avoid things that could hurt the baby's development such as alcohol and unnecessary medications.

If you still haven't started in a few days, you might want to give your doctor a call just to get everything checked out and discuss why you might be missing consecutive periods.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Thank you. But I am not experiencing a lot of cervical mucous. Does that mean I am not pregnant?

I want to thank everyone who read and posted an answer to my question. Unfortunately my period came this morning, and it's just so hard to take that everything was in good timing and nothing happened. My husband wasn't really ready yet anyway. It was kind of an accident. But I was holding on so much because I knew that if I wasn't pregnant he wasn't willing to get me that way on purpose yet. But I know it will happen one day. So thank you again.
