Alty - you sound as tolerant of critters as my mom was. At one point we had a cat, a green finch, a goldfish, a bowl of tadpoles, a wounded pigeon, 3 baby motherless rabbits, a snake we caught from the creek, and 3 white rats. We even managed to get the bunnies and pigeon healthy enough to set free.

Wow, and I thought I was bad. :)

Right now I have 2 dogs, 4 rabbits, one bird and one fish. I'd have more but I'm running out of room. ;)

I used to have 18 finches, but the Muttart conservatory agreed to take them. They now have an entire pavilion to fly in, it's the hawaiin style pavilion, complete with waterfall. They are lucky birds, and they breed like rabbits, I started with two 1 year before we gave them to the Muttart, and not all of the babies survived.:eek:

Well Flyer, even though I am a die hard Bear Fan when you consider the last year or so you aren't far from wrong. Even though I have a close relationship with Jerry Angelo the General Manager of the Bears. His cousin works for me.

But you can't claim the Steelers all to yourself my friend. I too am a Steeler Fan and have been since I was 8 (a long , long time ago). In fact when I am back in Pgh we are going to one of the exhibition games. The Black and Gold rule but so do the Bears.

Funny... I was a Steeler fan way before the 70's when almost everyone became fans. I lived through those years when they were the "floor mat" for the whole NFL, I earned the right to be a fan... being at those many, many freezing games when only half of the stadium was full... and they won 2 maybe 3 games a year...

I used to swim competitively in school, and I played tennis, but that was long ago. Now I just play with the kids, and they kick my butt all the time. Sad, isn't it? ;)

I could use my leg as an excuse... but too many have seen me play volleyball with it (tho one day it was very hot and it slipped off as I went for the ball and we had to suspend the game while I pulled myself together. :rolleyes:

These days though I usually stick to horseshoes or bocce (sub for bowling). These joints can't quite take it anymore. Got a copy of Tetris you can send?:D

I'm okay now. It was hard though, the baby weighed less than a pound and was only 9 inches long. I can't divulge too much, due to HIPAA laws, as we always see here, but it broke my heart to pieces.

A friend of mine had a baby at 20 weeks. I wasn't there with her, but she had pictures of this wee little baby, a small little person, it's head was as big as my thumb. I say "it" because they weren't sure, it had male genitalia and ovaries, it was also a down syndrome baby and had other medical problems as well. No matter, the parents would have loved that baby like any other, but it wasn't meant to be.

She still has the tiny cap they put on the baby's head, all the pictures and the tiny cloth that was used for a diaper. The baby survived for 1 hour after the birth.

Why am I telling you this? Well, my friend had a hard time dealing with the loss, so many emotions, so much anger and sadness, but in the end, acceptance. The loss will always be there for that mother, but one day she'll find peace with this tragedy, really, she will.

I had a miscarriage with my 3rd child at 3 months. That was the hardest thing I ever went through. The doctors had to do an emergency D & C, I almost died from blood loss. It will be three years September 3, I still remember, I still mourn for the loss, but I have accepted it, so will this mother, eventually.

I am so sorry to hear these stories Alty... I know it must be so hard.

I'm just angry at "baby daddy" who left shortly after the birth and never returned. Anger is a part of grief, and I guess, as a nurse, we go through the stages of grief as well as our patients.

Thanks for the bear hug Alty. I think I'll go hug my own children right now. Take them both (14 & 6) into our bed and all sleep as snug as bugs in a rug.

On a brighter note, I hate to bring things down. I think I'll take the kids to the zoo tomorrow. I had to send Little J off to first grade and Rae off to high school on my birthday. I think we will celebrate tomorrow.

Anger is a big part of grief, and the hardest part to deal with. You are a strong women J, with a big heart, the perfect nurse. :)

The zoo sound great, pet the bunnies for me, if they have any. :)

Give your kids a huge hug, loss makes us realize how lucky we are to have what we have. You are a lucky women, with two wonderful kids, and they are lucky too, they have a mother who loves them so very much.

As for my loss, well, it made me realize that each day counts. Each moment I have with my kids is special, even when they're driving me crazy. I too am a lucky women, I have two happy, healthy, wonderful kids, I wouldn't change a thing. :)

LMAO at the leg remark. Hubby recently told me that I am too skinny and need to gain some weight. It was just a year ago that he told me I was FAT!! :eek: he said my legs were TOO skinny!!

I'd kill for skinny legs. I'm a pear, carry all my weight from the waist down. My upper body is quite slim, the lower isn't bad, but in proportion to the upper it looks odd. Yup, a pear. ;)

My legs are too skinny and if anyone has any buns they want to pass on to me, that would be fine too. Just a few months ago I started doing this yoga stuf with push ups and lunges... I haven't seen a miricle, but I have seen improvement!

I knew him for 17 years and he always said he loved me but I always teased him like Dan the man that I can't stand. Then in May I said okay. Then things were better than any other relationship I ever had and he kept telling me the same but he started really taking me for granted like all guys do to me within 3 months. The past three days everything I would try to tell him he just looks at the little details and I kept telling him stuff like no the problem isn't that you told so and so something I didn't want you to or the problem isn't that you took your friends to the bar. The problem is you do not see the general pattern of the bigger picture that you do not like it when I tell somebody something that is your business and you put me off when I want to go to the store or the Beach club but you jump for your friends. All he says is
Stuff like "You are mad that I gave them a ride'' Or "You are just mad because I said something to somebody that doesn't even matter''. I feel like he isn't being considerate and is picking fights about what happened instead of looking at the problem in general.
