Hey Sneezy,

I lifted when I was at school on and off, never very seriously for the last year or so. Since summer, and being single with tons of free time, I have picked up a routine that I have stuck to religiously so far, and don't plan on breaking. I lift 5 days a week (M-F) and I take the weekends off. There is also a 1 week rest period every 8 weeks, like a long term recovery period.

The program actually advises against running as the lifting routine is very intensive on your central nervous system (so they say) so the added stress of running isn't recommended. I found that hard to swallow since one of the benefits I'm looking for is to lose a few pounds, but I figure the extra muscle mass will help. I'm down a few already, looking to possibly be down another 15 - 20 in the long run. Not a big issue, but it'll make me feel good. Goals are always good :)

Oh, I love playing blackjack as well. My friend and I go to the casino once in a while, but it usually doesn't turn out too great, so I have been staying away. Although the last time I went, I played for about 3 hours and won $5. I just consider it free entertainment.

Here for a minute, almost time to get ready for my party. It takes a few hours to create that natural look. ;) Not really, I've never been one to fuss and muss, so I'm not going to start now, after all, it's a party with friends.

I'm looking forward to going, it will be a bit sad though too, my bud leaves on Saturday and then returns in August. I wish he lived closer than LA, but alas he does not. I don't get to see allot of him when he's here, he usually only comes for around a week and of course he has family that want to see him too, so I take what I can get. ;)

It's still yucky outside, I think I'll bring a coat, or two, and an umbrella in case they decide to brave the outdoors instead of moving the party inside. ;)

I've been tempted to start running again though. For the first month and a half or so I lost about 10 pounds, but its slowed down quite a bit. I don't think it was water weight as I try to drink at least half a gallon, probably closer to 3/4 a day. I know I shouldn't reasonably expect more than 1-2 pounds a week, but you know how it goes :p

I had the intention of losing weight first, then building muscle, but when I was at school I hardly ate, so I think my metabolism went to hell. I'm trying to eat more regularly, an dI have revised my nutrition habits a lot - no more sugar, no snacks, high protein, low carbs, etc... Hopefully the muscle will help boost my metabolism.

I'm sure I'll be around to give you guys periodic updates :p

How much did you run when you were doing your running? I was thinking about starting a sprinting routine...

When I first started, I'd do anywhere from 2.5 - 3 miles MWF.

Now that I'm down to my "core" weight... it's a bit hard to lose just on cardio, so I'm starting up intervals this next week. I'll be doing 5 min warmup, 1 min high intensity, 2 min med intensity, then 5 min cooldown... 3 times. So hopefully, I'll lose the next 10 this way.

But I agree, it's hard as crap to bulk up and lose weight at the same time.

My opinion is that the number really doesn't matter to me. I haven't given myself an ideal weight to reach, but I have given myself an ideal body image to get... So I guess I should stop looking at the scale and just keep my focus :p

I assume its near impossible to fain muscle at the rate you lose fat, but it certainly slows it down...

A few weeks ago someone broke in and dumped a bag load of garbage inside, and stole nothing but my registration.

This time they stole something else from my backyard. My mother had brought in a huge load of cans from a big party that was held at the hall where they live. My backyard lights were ripped down, and approx $200 of cans, that I was going to take in tomorrow, for money to go get myself a new outfit and get my hair done for my B'day were stolen.

It's a long wkd here, and now I can't go anywhere, because my van isn't running right, and everything is closed until Tues.

Seriously, you should see Tim Hortons Donuts near my house, there is not one hr of the day that there isn't a cop there having a donut... except for shift change! ;)

Infuriated, I got out my car, grabbed a tire iron from my trunk and walked straight up to the leader of the gang. He was a huge guy with a studded leather jacket and a chain running from his nose to his ear. As I walked up to the leader, the Gang formed a circle all around me.

I got to say, I had quite a night last night. A friend's friend needed a date for some office party... so I reluctantly went, and it turned out I had a blast! We both got pretty hammered though... got back to my place around 3am... she sobered up by 6am and went home. Overall, a good night.

My mcat books are leering at me. I'm tempted to throw them in the oven.

Not the oven, try the fire pit, roast marshmellows, it'll be fun. You can dance naked around the fire with a stick and marshmellows. I think Starby might join you, if you ask nicely, heck, just ask, she'll be there. :)

Also, my water broke, then I went in to labor, and 5 hours later, with 1 1/2 hours of pushing, I had a beautiful baby boy. Second child, they had to break my water, I had 3 hours of labor, and 10 minutes of pushing to get my beautiful little girl. All in all, it ain't really that hard. Oh, did I mention, no drugs, all natural. OUCH!! :)

Now the doctor, I think he took drugs. :)

Well, I wish I could tell you different Sneezy. I was suppose to go to my parents house at the lake. They had a boat parade, fireworks, and a band at the hall for Canada Day. I didn't hear squat from my parents at all, and my brother called me at 7:30pm, drunk as a skunk, and said he would make the hr drive to come and get me. Yeah... NOT!! I would've gone myself, but my van isn't running right, as you know! So yeah, it was just me and Niki, and AMHD. Well and of course Alty, who I talked to on the phone for half the day. :D

More than a little disappointing, to say the least, since this should've been a milestone B'day! Not in a long shot! :rolleyes: (not to mention that money set aside, so I could buy myself a B'day present was stolen by a family member)

Yo homie! Fireworks.. for what..

It's Canada Day tomorrow. Kind of the same thing as your 4th of July. We'll have fireworks both tonight and tomorrow night, and things going on all over town. Bands in all of the parks, big parties, same kind of stuff as yours, only ours is on the 1st, not the 4th.

Ours is officially called Dominion Day, as opposed to Independence Day.

Oh, neato.

I'm trying to head to the beach for 4th of July... but the weather here's been... odd, so we'll see.

Those are beautiful fireworks! I love watching them. That reminds me of some of the fireworks I saw not too many yrs ago in Disney World, when I was staying with my parents in Florida. They were amazing!

The town I live in is pretty small, so we don't have the budget for a spectacular display like that, but the show is still pretty nice, and I can enjoy them from my backyard, without having to push through a crowd. :D They didn't last too long tonight, tomorrow will be the bigger show!

Yeah Sydney has a bit of a reputation when it comes to our NYE fireworks , people travel from all over the world to see them. I was lucky enough to get a spot in a restaurant just under the bridge for the 2000 fireworks. They were absolutely amazing!!

Calgary... which is a hop, skip and a jump from me, also has a reputation for their Calgary Stampede fireworks too. Everyone comes from all ends of the earth to go to the Stampede! I used to live there, and it gets entirely stupid crazy, every July! In fact, people that actually live there, plan their vacations around the Stampede, to get the hell out!

Ooopsss! I wrote something and then forgot to post it... DUH! I got caught up on the phone with a friend of mine from Ontario. We have never met, but have the same last name and have gotten to be friends for a long time now. He's in a band, and is singing songs to me on the phone... actually is now singing on vid cam... lol
