*beep* That's not clear at all. Stay with the sexuality idea. What does our real society say is OK? And then, what would an ideal society believe would be a good thing regarding sexuality?

I AM helping you out. Please answer the two questions!!

Ok, here are more thought questions --

What does freedom mean in our society? Who is free? How are they free? What do they do because they are free? (When is there a lack of freedom? Who is not free then?)

What would freedom mean in an ideal society? Who would be free? How would they be free? What would they do if they were free? (Would there ever be a lack of freedom? Who would not be free then?)

OK all I needed to know is what the terms mean for my anthro class
Do you know what heterogeneous culture means?

Wondergirl
Feb 6, 2008, 02:35 PM
Watch your spelling please.

It's the opposite of a homogeneous culture.

The U.S. is a heterogeneous culture.

Japan is a homogeneous culture.

hetero = different
homo = same
genous = kind

A homosexual prefers the same kind (the same sex).
A heterosexual prefers a different kind (the other sex).

Now, in your own words, tell me what that means. Then, give one example of a counterculture in the U.S. culture.

great exchange of ideas... just wanted to say that the idea of Japan being a culturally homogenous society can be challenged:

Homogenous Japan:
Demographics of Japan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Japan)

Multicultural Japan:

Real Culture is what we have. Idea culture is subjective and unattainable.

Ideal culture: something you see in a museum display and what would be associated with that.

Real culture: LIVED culture. Exists in everyday life.
