Felons are not considered a minority. You are a minority if you are a female, etc. Try that approach instead.

I believe there was some kind of program in AZ or NM about this but it's been over a year ago and haven't heard anything since about it.

The only way you should be denied is if you have a felony drug conviction WHILE receiving federal financial aid. Call the help number for clarification if you are not sure. My mother is a felon and has been in and out of prison my whole life and I never met my biological father. There has to be a place that will help me out with a grant for college but where do I apply?

At the end of the FAFSA is charges you an $80.00 fee which I don't have and won't have any time soon. Considering this is why I want to go to college. Is there any way around that fee so my FAFSA can be filed?
