Hi I am new to this community but to get to the point here is my question.
I have a dell inspiron 600m that when it starts takes me to my desktop but I have no icons no taskbar no nothing but my arrow curser and wallpapper...
Things I have tryed:
Ctrl + Alt + Del = nothing happened
f5 = nothing happened
Alt + Tab = nothing happened
Safemode , with Networking,with Commande Prompt= same no icons no taskbar nothing. Ctrl + Alt + Del doesn't work neither in any safemode.
Last Known Good Configuration = Same Problem
Debugging Mode = Same Problem
Other Problem = I don't have Windows XP CD. I tried a Vista CD but I can't install it until I can get the computer working. IM STUCK
BTW I'm using another computer to post this... not the Bugged one, I can't do anything with it. HELP

Yes I have restarted. I haven't used this computer in over a year because I got a new one, but I'm trying to get back into it.

Your explorer.exe shell is corrupted. Try to boot into Safe MOde and do a System Restore to a date when the computer booted up OK.

Um when I'm in Safe Mode.. I can't do anything but move the curser around. How would I System Restore to a date when it worked?

You may need this: How to start the System Restore tool at a command prompt in Windows XP (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304449/en-us)

Then you're pretty much stuck with rebooting to the XP CD, reformatting and reinstalling the OS.
You could always put the HD in another computer to save your data.

Nope as that would be piracy and in breach of copyright.

Try right cliking on the start menu and go into properties make sure the classic or start menu is checked. If so go to customize and check your settings there.
