I am 31 and taking BC pills. My dr has said that I can take my pills consecutively up to 3 months and only have a period once every three months. I have been doing this since last spring with no problems. However, I started another 3 month cycle about 6 weeks ago and then about 10 days ago I started spotting (red) and had what seemed to be a period (it became came regular for a few days). I had stopped bleeding/spotting by Friday. Sunday morning when I came out of the shower (had only been up for about 15 minutes), I had a heavy red bloody discharge. It quickly stopped and became a heavy dark brown, almost black discharge. It has been heavier than spotting, about as heavy as a light period. I am wondering what could be causing this and whether I should be checked out by a dr. BTW, I am married and usually sexually active, but we haven't been active for over a week due to the bleeding and now the discharge. Please help!

OK brown suggests old blood, time to change your birth control method
Because you don't have one for maybe two months, it has to be stored somewhere right?
