I'm looking for songs that have been misinterpreted as patriotic. Any song that has been misinterpreted by popular culture as patriotic, but actually have an underlying cynicism (“Born in the USA”) is a good example.

Here’s my list so far:
“Born in the USA” - Bruce Springstein
“Pink Houses”- John Mellencamp
“Star Spangled Banner”- Jimmi Hendrix

I need a lot more so any suggestion will help, I’ll do the legwork if it requires more research.

Here’s my list of songs that might work (if you know whether these songs fit the requirements, please let me know):
“This Land is Our Land”
“Miss America”- david byrne
“American Music”- Violent Femmes
“America”- Simon and Garfunkel
“Rockin’ in the free world”- Neil Young

Thank you for posting a song to the Music topic area that isn't looking for a song or the name of an artist! :) Your question is excellent!

One question that I have for you though is, can these songs be about countries other than the U.S. Other countries no doubt have similar songs.
