My boyfriend is here from the uk and I live in the us, we want to get married. Is it as easy as going to the government building and getting a marriage license? Or do we need a fiancé visa? He's not here long... I can't stand letting him go. We have our birth certificates and licenses for photo ID... any help would be much appreciated.. thanks

I know where you're coming from. I'm in a very similar situation except that I'm going there. I wish you lots of luck.
We have been trying to figure this stuff out. How long has he been here and are you all going to be staying here or moving there?

Hi There
I am in the process of applying for a fiancé visa to go to the USA.
From what I have read about your best and safest bet is to go home when planned on your return ticket and apply for a K-1 fiancé visa.
It may be slightly different if you want to live in UK. But if you want him to come to USA then this is defo the way to go. If he enters the USA with the intent to marry you, he can be banned for 5 years or more from entering the US so be careful.

I found an amazing site online called VisaJourney.com, take a look at this for advise.

I know totally where you are coming from, every time I see my fiancé I don't want to leave him, I miss him so badly :( but I know we will be together soon and able to get married legally with no worries.. it will be worth the 6 month(or more) wait for the visa.

Good Luck :)
Let me know how you get on or if you need more advise.

I know this is from awhile ago, but did you make a decision? It is much easier for you to go there now than it is for him to come here, but of course your circumstances may determine who's going to make the move.
