That's terrible Chery!! On the bright side though, if your results came back unfavorable the doctor would have been made aware immediately. So, hopefully everything came back just fine.

Hugs to you dear!!

Morning everyone! Chery, I can't imagine the waiting you have to go through just to find something out. Of course doctors are so busy and so are the staff, but when you call and call can wait and wait you would think they sense your urgency sweet. Here are a million hugs from me to you. :)

Chery

With all of your hugs and support, I feel a little calmer now.

Tomorrow, I will have a serious talk with the doc and he will know exactly how upset I was and what I expect from now on.

Thanks again.

I'm an admin, Em. The problem is that my work history has been weird and sporadic, so I have some strange levels of experience in some programs--like NO Powerpoint, but some experience with PeopleSoft, only it was a modified version for the education system.

It's amazing what you can tell about a company from their ads when they're looking for admin/clerical. It's an essential part of every business, but treated in some cases as if any person who can read can do the job.

Painting my new office. It has a window! The window faces a brick wall, but it is a window! Beats the shared office I had.

I did some foam art with my daughter this weekend. She insists the Pilgrim is a Leprechaun because of the hat. So we have a Native American, horn of plenty and a Leprechaun in a black outfit on our kitchen table.

Hello all! Hope everyone is doing well. I miss talking to you all. CBW you staying well? J-9 how's school treating you... start, you staying busy? Synn? Everyone else?

Started prenatal arobics last night for my last few weeks... im loving it already.

Have to work 3-11 this week to train with the day crew.. not looking forward to those hours, there is no time for anything else. Will be happy when I'm back to my normal schedule which I have grown to love.

Finally finished the baby room this last weekend, and now I'm just picking up the little things at the stores and putting them in their place.

Well I'm already being beckoned again from upstiars... better start lunch. Have a good day!

Okay, just for an idea, here is one of my test questions... How do I know? One of the instructors told us, LOL. Let's see if anyone can get the answer right...

You are caring for a newborn with nuchal rigidity, a poor suck reflex, and a weak cry. You suspect the infant has:

A) spina bifida
B) Chiari II Malformation (Arnold-Chiari malformation)
C) epilepsy
D) craniosynostosis

Hmmmmmmm, I know which one I'm going to pick.

Now, back to my studies.

All I can offer is to hold the baby and kiss and love it while you nurses do your thing...

Emland
Oct 16, 2007, 12:48 PM
I'm going to guess D, because that is the letter I choose when I don't know the answer on multiple choice quizzes.

J_9
Oct 16, 2007, 12:52 PM
Very good guesses guys, but the answer is B.

Testing reasoning here (taught to me by my psych instructor) three answers are one or two words, in this case the answer that has the most words is correct. If three answers have 6 words and one has 2 words, the one with 2 is correct.

If 3 answers have the words "always" in them and one answer has "occasionally" well, then that is your answer.

Just some test taking strategy if you ever go back to school.

Here's an easy one taken from my test bank that we study from...

The nurse is admitting a young child to the hospital because bacterial meningitis is suspected. Which of the following is the major priority of nursing care?

A. Initiate isolation precautions as soon as diagnosis is confirmed.
B. Initiate isolation precautions as soon as the causative agent is identified.
C. Administer antibiotic therapy as soon as it is ordered.
D. Administer sedatives/analgesics on a preventive schedule to manage pain.

Yeah, I'm taking a break right now. Need one as my head is hurting. I should stop studying so that I don't OVER study (which I do actually have a tendency to do).

Chery
Oct 16, 2007, 01:25 PM
My guess is C.

The first two would make you think because of "isolation', but the words "confirmed" and "agent identified" are the catchers. And with the suspecion of meningitis, the child would already be placed in isolation.

Am I right, huh, huh,.

I could use a gold star today.

I called my doctor again this morning and he asked me to come in. So, I went in and he did not tell me anything I did not already know. The tumor is there. The doctor blah, blahd the usual options to be taken, and I stopped him. I do not plan on surgery, chemo, or anything else. I don't plan on spending the last few months or more in any darned hospital.

I believe in Quality and not Quantity and lately the quality part of my life has deminished to the point of no-return.

So, Monday I go back and let him do a few more tests for beurocratic protocol.

He was kind enough to prescribe some valium for me and told me to come see him any time I felt the need.

J_9, start, CBW, and synn..
Thanks for all the good vibes.

Yes, I do have my daughter here and she is a lot of help. What makes me sad is that she is trying to be so strong, as always, when in reality I know she hurts. She thinks she has to be the pillar of strength for work, Alex, her guy, and me. I just hope that when it's time for her to need someone, I can still be there. I made her promise that she will see a colleague of mine here and hope she goes to see him soon.

Thanks for the gold star, Janine. It helps to know that I have not lost it.

Love you all.

No, I worked for him and also dated him for over a year. He was the best ever! 5 foot 1, but every inch of him was pure power. He also played guitar for me in bed, we had breakfast in bed, etc... he even proposed.. but My mother was against him because he was Jewish. Too bad I listened to her or I'd not have lung cancer now and I'd be living in Laguna Beach. Oh well, I still like redheads.

I sometimes think my daughter is making a mistake with her guy, but I'd never say so to ruin things for her. She's happy and she deserves to be no matter what I think.

Now, another problem, I have a super cool camcorder but it's PAL... my PC and software work with NTSC, so now I cannot even record Jaime's pregnancy, ultra-sound, or Alexander's first day on earth and put them on a CD for Jaime. I guess I'll just give her the camcorder when I get ready to make my exit. I know there is software that converts, but too expensive for me and I would not have the patience to learn how to do it. Grrrrrrr.

No, I worked for him and also dated him for over a year. He was the best ever! 5 foot 1, but every inch of him was pure power. He also played guitar for me in bed, we had breakfast in bed, etc....he even proposed..but My mother was against him because he was Jewish.

Hello everyone... today was the last day of the crazy shift thank god.

Have to drive up to cincy tomorrow to get fitted for a bridesmaid dress (yes at 30 weeks pregnant - it sux) to top it off I won't get to wear it until July 5 , 2008... which will give me enough time to drop the baby weight... lol... why they can't fit me after these last 10 weeks are over, I don't know... but since its vera wang, it has to be ordered far in advance... lol... I can't wait to see the alteration lady's face... should be humorous. Im not that big, I actually stopped gaining weight, but I'm definitely bigger than my typical size 9... lol... and a little fuller in the upper closet if you know what I mean... but I'm there for my best friend so its not like I need to look the best that day anyway... haha. Then we are off to trick or treat at the zoo that night. Woo hoo!

Hope you are all well. I feel llike I have neglected the board so much... :(

Men... if we start talking about them, we'd have to start a whole new thread.
I have horror stories you'd wouldn't believe (although, maybe you would).
Maybe just such a thread might give men insight of how not to treat women and would explain why so many of them ask 'what did I do wrong?' or "why is she cheating on me?" I bet we could really tell them what they did wrong and it just might help women in the future if men would only learn from it.

Where would we start? In the kitchen? In the livingroom? In the bedroom? How they act in public?

Don't get me wrong, there have been men in my life who were absolutely wonderful, I just didn't realize it until it was too late.

OK, I need to do some research now...

Remember how he chased you to get you? What did he do then that he doesn't do now?

What things did he compliment you on and now takes for granted?

Did he fake pride in what you shared with him and now goes uhhuh when you want his opinion?

When did he stop taking you out once a month?

Does he still have that admiring spark in his eyes when you do things together?

There is lots more, but enough for a start. Once these are answered, I'll start the new thread.

Any ideas are more than welcome.

P.S. Joe and Ben, These little trips back in the past are only because we are curious and not just complaining... and you are welcome to comment too.

Congrats dear. Dancing is a wonderful way of expressing, and keeping physically fit too. After I had my baby 32 years ago, I danced like heck around the house and got my figure back in no time. Wish I could still dance, but I enjoy music just the same.

Keep wishing... lol...

CBW -yes, I'm glad everything went OK as well, we didn't know it was the glowstick at first, I thought he was having a stroke or something with the way he was acting, convulsing and such, but the woman at poison control assured us it wouldn't cause permanent damage, but said he was probably feeling like his eyes were on fire, I felt terrible. I had some contractions afterwards, but they died off... I did have a spark of worry there for a little while though, I did not want to go back to the hospital.

We went and bought Meet the Robinsons today and just sat there watching it and the rain all day, so I'm well relaxed now.

Im getting to that point where I'm just he crabby pregnant lady now. I try not to say much to my poor co-workers for fear of snapping at one or two of them. I hold my tongue quite a bit lately... Im counting down these last 91/2 weeks... whew.

Start and CBW - you have no idea how much you gals cheer me up right now. I love you so much for all those vices and cute pictures. I'll redeem that coupon as soon as possible. Now I got to pack for the hospital, will take my laptop to play games even if I can't get on the net. I get so bored... Will try to be back by Friday, and then on Monday it time to spend a few more days there. I hope they reserve a room because I want to keep some good spices there and not have to lug them around all the time.

Love, Chery
Here is someone I'll miss while gone too, along with you guys.

Will do mommy, eh... start.

Janine - spices, because the hospital food is yucky! They don't even supply salt and pepper. And, german hospital food sucks.

I'm sure the nurses will store them for me somewhere, they have been pretty nice to me. It's not their fault that I'm sick and not the most cooperative patient. Not really looking forward to going, but oh well.

Ha I know exactly what you mean those 6 weeks I spent in hospital with millie before and after she came out were flipping vile only dam thing they did OK was chocolate and pear pudding with custard I used to send ben out to buy fish and chips and take away when he got there from work the food sucked big time.
We will be thinking of you as ever my lovely I'm sure your a lot nicer to the hospital staff than most just remember we love you xx

Oh WOW, a neighbor of mine that woks in the hospital radiology department just approached me and told me how sorry he was about my condition. He also knows I spend most of my time at home and that I like to watch TV. He ordered a Digital Kabel receiver for me and will have it installed in November so that there will be more programs for me to choose from. I think that was such a nice gesture. It is hard for me when people are nice because I'm not used to it. But it sure makes me feel terribly humble. His mother has also invited me for lunch every day now, when I am home. This is so strange, I don't know how to act.. but deep down I'm grateful as heck.

I'm not sure of their motives, but don't really care right now.

At first I was the american broad who was with a german jerk - the neighborhood had known him when he was first married and how he treated his wife and child.. I guess they felt sorry for me.
Now, I'm the american broad who he dumped and guess they have to show solidarity. No matter for what reason, it feels good to have someone on my side for a change.

You've got nice friends, Chery. Enjoy your cable - stay off the 900 channels!

Chery
Oct 24, 2007, 02:23 PM
EM.. no 900 channels here, I enjoy national geographic, sci-fi, cartoons, etc. There are even music channels and I hope I can find some nice jazz. He said if my little TV is not good enough, he'll give me one of his 60 centimeter flatscreen televisions. He's in his early thirties and I know he's not flirting with me, but he's always so polite and helpful.

Start... I know you're there for me no matter how busy you are and how much you've on your' plate. You are my Warrior and you know it. You make my life richer just by being you.

Chery... I haven't been saying much here lately (I, for some weird reason, just don't have much to say in general lately). I do, however, care muchly for you, and hope that your hospital stay isn't TOO tedious.

I'm glad you have good neighbors.

CHERRY OH BABY
(E. Donaldson)

Oh, Cherry, oh Cherry, oh baby
Doncha know I in need of thee
You don't believe it true
Why don't you love me, too
Its so long I been waiting
For you to come right in
Now that we are together
Is make my joy run over

Whoa, eeyo, eeyo, eeyo, eeyo
Whoa, eeyo, eeyo, eeyo, eeyo
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Doncha know I in love with you
You don't believe I know
So why don't you try me
I'm never going to let you down
Never make you wear no frown
You say you love me madly
Then why do you treat me badly

I'm so happy to see you back. Missed you woman!!

I'm beat too. Been up since 7 this morning and in the hospital till 11, got home at 12:15 and am trying to wind down now to get some shut eye.

How's the new job? How's Connor?

alkalineangel
Oct 25, 2007, 11:33 PM
I like the new job and the new shift. I love being home. Connor's good... he has a MRI on Wednesday to look for what's making the nerve in his eye bulge, but otherwise good. I have noticed some slight regression as we get closer to our due date... but nothing I haven't been able to nip in the bud.

I have been really tired this last week, and I'm not sure why, but I hope it ends soon, I have zero energy... probably all the rain...

How's school treating you? Learning lots? Having fun? Family doing good?

J_9
Oct 25, 2007, 11:37 PM
You have the rain too? Been 3, almost 4 days non-stop for us. Got Daddy J out building the Ark now, well he is in his dreams, LOL, I'm NEVER awake later than him.

Glad the new job is going so good. I don't know if I could manage 3rd shift (isn't that what you are working?) and kids home during the day.

Your energy zap could be from the pregnancy, happens a LOT in the 3rd trimester.

School is good, thanks for asking. I had clinicals in pediatrics today. Had the cutest little boy tonight. He had MRSA on his bum just like Little J did this summer. Poor guy.

alkalineangel
Oct 25, 2007, 11:44 PM
Yep! Its been raining since Sunday...
Not a true third shift... I typically work from 6-1:30 or so... so I still get a good amount of sleep before Connor wakes up (tyipically around 9)...
IM glad clinicals and what not are going good, I know you love working with the kiddos.

Lots a hug to you too. Why are you having awful nights? I wish I were there to help.
I also dreamt of moving in with start... that was so real, after seeing her pictures.

My brother promised me that I can move in with him once I'm in my Urn. If I get my medical retirement in time I might move there sooner, just a problem with medical insurance. If it weren't for money, I'd be where I really want to be.. in the USA. I would have enough to share rent and utilities.. But I feel I'm 'home' when I'm here on AMHD with my family.

Unfortunately I was born as an illegitimate child to a US soldier here in Germany and would like to get US citizenship (Koreans and Viets get it without problems). I can prove my dad was a US citizen and that my brothers and daughter are also, so maybe I'll still have a chance to go to the 'home' of my heart. I'm a little sentimental right now and thinking of so much I still have to do before I leave this planet.
