Hi guys, writing this from the UK as this seems to be the best plumbing board about, and as you can see, I hate plumbing.

Basicall all my hot water taps are fine apart from the bathtub which barely gives a trickle (it does give something though). Now from reading up on here I suspet I have crud in a pipe connected to the hot water flow. I read all about valves etc but I'm a complete rookie at this stuff, being only 21 and this is the first house I ever bought.

Am I right in thinking that I must remove the wooden side panel of the bath and the valve should be there, shut it off and remove the pipe between the valve and the bath checking for blocks, or is it something more than that,

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Lewis

Good morning Lewis,

First of all I need to know the type, (one handle or two knobs?) and make of the faucet. Generally speaking you will shut off the water to the valve and then open the valve up. That's where you start. To be more specific I'll need more details. I'll wait on your reply. Tom

Never mind. Basically all 2 taps are the same. Click on; http://www.plumbinglessons.com/sup/showervalve.htm
To see a exploded view. Now you must shut off the water to the faucet and remove the Left hand knob and the chrome cover plate. Now unscrew the larger nut and back the stem and washer assenbly out counterclockwise. Push a wire down the open seat and into the supply and wiggle it around. Pull out the wire. Now, with the valve still opened up turn the water on for a minute and flush out the supply line. You should have a strong stream if not you're still clogged. If you have a strong stream then chances are the blockage's gone and you can reassemble the faucet. Good luck, Tom
