    Muray mower wiring problem
I have a Murray mower date code 0184 with a 12.5 Briggs. I can't find any wiring schematics. The ignition switch was bad and the terminals were corroded. My son had removed the solenoid to use on another mower. I put it back but am not sure it's right. The yellow kill switch wire from the seat has a terminal that looks like it should go on the solenoid. I tried to us an ignition switch from an older Murray, but the wiring is different and looks like the pos. and negative. Are reversed on the switch. If anybody knows how the loops are run, I could probably figure it out, but I can't even tell how to bypass everything just to check out the engine. Any help?

If you call Murray support the number is on Murray.com It's a 1-800 number if you give them the M# and code they will look it up and email you the full scamatics for your mower.

I have a Murray mower, but it has a 12.5v Tecumseh engine. I received a Electrical Parts diagram with the Owners Manual and it has a "wiring diagram". Check in your parts list that came with the mower. HTH

The solenoid will have a large red wire coming from the battery and a large wire going to the starter. There will be a small wire that when the ignition is turned to "start" will be energized with 12-V dc. This energizes the electromagnetic switch (solenoid) internally connecting the battery to the starter, solenoids are notorious for coroding internaly and failing to make contact.

The safety switches are important devices to ensure no one gets killed or maimed. You would be shocked at the number of accidents nationwide involving lawn equipment.

Just for diagnostics you may locate the Black wire coming from under the fan shroud and disconnect it from the carburetor, this is the ignition kill wire, when the ignition is shut off or a safety switch is activated the coil goes to ground from this wire and the engine dies, by isolating it you are bypassing all safety controls. This should get the engine to turn over or start.
