Renting a house when I didn't know it was in foreclosure but the Landlord did
I rented a house in July and asked the question is it in shortsale or foreclosure. I was told no by the realitor so I moved in. In Sep I found out that he hasn't been paying rent since May. I was lied to about moving in a house that was in foreclosure. I know that I still need to pay rent but what is the legal advice about moving in a house that was already under foreclosure. The bad thing about all of this is that I'm in my third house in three years over foreclosures that I had no idea that was going to happen. How am I ever going to be protected if I'm not willing to purchase and want to keep renting??

There is no legal requirement to tell you by the owner. If the real estate agent was aware of it ( most likely they did not know)

They have to give you a 90 day notice to move out from foreclosure.

In short sale you are actually protected if there is a lease, since the new owner is still obligated to honor the lease
