    2005 ford Powerstroke 6.0 issue
    Thank you for you time..
I have recently purchased a used 2005 Ford 6.0 diesel turbo. Was running fine then all of a sudden the truck became sluggish and registered no turbo pressure or pressure sometimes. A well respected local mechanic told me that he believed it was due to a bad sensor. I don't know the name of the part but it is roughly 6 inches long and tubular looking and very expensive $395.00. 5 days later and several of these parts later I was told that the truck keeps "Blowing" this sensor. He then told me that when he checked the oil, "it was the wrong type for a diesel engine"?? He changed the oil and voilą the problem was fixed.. so he thought. On the way home from the shop, at about a consistent 50 - 55 mph, the problem again reared its ugly head so now the truck is heading back to the shop. I trust this guy but I would like to ask if any one else might know what could be going on so I am not total ignorant.

    Thanks again

The only sensor that fits your description is a camshaft sensor, and they will NEVER "blow". Also, this guy is throwing parts on left and right, yet you still trust him? I'd say from what you claim, either a VGT solonoid or a faulty MAP sensor or hose.

The only sensors that are used for boost purposes are the MAP and the EBP. Did he show you where the sensor was located?

As far as the incorrect oil, he may be under the false impression that this engine needs 15W-40 at all times. If you live in Texas then 15W-40 is fine year round but if you live in North Dakota you'll definitely want diesel 10W-30 in the winter. Check the owner's manual if you want but this engine needs the thinner oil in the colder temperature. It ships from Navistar (International) with 10W-30.

I've never seen the wrong oil cause that type of boost response. It can cause problems but usually not that scenario.

The best thing to do is go to Ford dealerhip and have the service mech put it on the scope . This will get you the problem detected quickly. Don't you have a warranty on the truck? I've been using Dello 400 15- 30 in all my diesels with no problems.

First you should have checked for codes. PERIOD.

What would keep making the check engine light to every 2 or 3 weeks?

    Thank you for your time...
I have 134000 on my 2004 ford f-250 and I just recently replaced my FICM and it ran fine for about 2 days and next thing I know it had a slight miss at idol and a lot of black smoke and lost of horsepower.. So I cleaned my egr valve and cranked it up and had the same miss but the next day I go to crank it up and it did not have any miss just seems to do it once it idles... so I continue to drive... the other day it was idleing and came inside and when I went back out it just TURNED OFF!! Now I drove it to work and it will not start but cranks fine... Im tired of throwing money into this truck but can anybody help me with this question or has experinced similar issues
