    Floor Joists
Hi folks, hopefully someone has a very easy answer to this... We are about to remove 2 chimney breasts that are situated on the side of our house - they make for odd shaped rooms and as we've halved our space with a recent downsize, along with damp coming through, it seems like the easiest option. However, we will then need to remedy the floor joist situation in 2 bedrooms. Will it be as simple as adding joists and bolting them securely to the existing ones using metal plates or is there something else we would need to consider? :p Thanks in anticipation!

The chimney shouldn't be holding your floor up in any way, should be able to just fill in with more floor joist where you need them, and yes bolting them is a good idea and code.

As for exactly how this will all work id have to see it for myself to say for sure
