    Is my house bugged?
Many years ago I worked at a company where they made keys. The boss used to behave very strangely asking me things like " I'm interested why someone like you wants to work here"
I did once get a copy of my house key made at work. I ended up having to leave my job because of the strange things that he would say.It made me ill. Since then I feel like I have no privacy. I even went to the expense of buying a bug detector, but didn't know how to use it properly. Would be most grateful if anyone can give me any solutions. I have looked around the house but never find anything.Could my house be bugged ?

Of course your house could be bugged; surely you know that? I hope you aren't asking what we think the odds are that this former employer bugged your house. It would be a total guess, even if you went into more detail about him. Hire a security firm, who can find bugs your kit can't, and tiny webcams. It might not be cheap.
And hire another locksmith to change your keyset. If I were uneasy about him, I'd be more worried that he lets himself in once in a while and snoops, which bugs will never detect.
Some people do their own counter snooping. They (who have a webcam at the top edge of their computer screen) leave it on all day as a record of what is happening.

First , why would someone like you want to work here, sounds like they felt you had a lot more talent and was wasting it there, ** sounds like they liked you to me?

It also sounds like you may be suffering from a complex where you feel unsure about others intent toward you.

But first if a professional put a bug in your home, you would never "see" it it may be in a light fixture, in a light switch, inside a radio or TV or the therostat of your heating system.

Anywhere along the phone line outside or in.

Also there are various types of bug, on different frequencies.

So if you want to be sure it is clear, you hire a professional, ( cost about 500 or so) to clear the house.
Then you install a alarm system, with wired video ( if it is wireless, someone can tap into it also)

Of course if they are using infrared listening, they can do that from outside the home though the windows,

Thank you very much for your advise I found it very helpful.I did have new doors, windows and locks fitted but I still feel the same.My light and plug sockets have also been changed. My late husband used to say I was just been paranoid I didn't agree.I will certainly take on board what you said about getting someone in to check.

Thank you for your advise. I will certainly enquire about how much it will cost to get someone to check for me. I didn't have any complex until he came out with strange comments and yes I was unsure of his intentions towards me. I was married and younger and he was my boss also married with children.I presumed he had done this to me to get rid of me from the work place even, though nothing ever went on between us.

If you don't use that comment feature but actually answer your own post you will have more space to give a answer or follow up.

I used to live in a strange world and they make special devices that hook to your phone and will show if there is any wire tap on it ( except for ones done at the telephone switch office and that would have to be done by law enforcement with warrant)

Also remember that unless the listening device is hooked up to some power sourse, even low level, that they have to work off battery power and would have to have someone come in and change batteries. So is there an power drain or usage if everything in the home is unplugged and turned off ?

Also if you have a security system, they are great, but I will be honest any 2nd class criminal and any one who plants bugs can get pass a simple home security system. So a system that also logs any off and on, and you get a print out of those events, plus a video of the entry points is a must for a real secure home.

Thank you once again you have been more helpful than anyone I have mentioned this to. They have just laughed at me and told me not to be stupid or that I'm paranoid. Checking to see if power is used when everything is turned off is something I never thought about.would I be able to tell by watching the numbers on the electricity meter and would I have to leave everything turned off for quite a while to see if power is been used?
