What exactly do you mean by "pen" drive? Are you referring to a USB flash drive?

And please elaborate on what you mean by "unprotecting" it?

Somehow the flash drive has become write protected.

I am unable to copy any additional data onto the disk.

I need a way to remove the write protection.

Do you have any software that came with the drive? If so you can try uninstalling or removing the drive software from your PC by going into your Control Panel and going to add/remove programs or by looking under the hardware settings. You can then try to reinstall the drive and see if that clears up the issue.

I have tried all that you have mentioned.

Uninstalling the drive has not helped.
I have tried to access it from other machines as well but the drive still shows write protected. This proves that it is not a local machine issue but a write protection featuer that has got enabled on the flash drive.

You may want to check the manufacturer's website and see if there's a user forum or knowledge base. You may find a fix for the problem in there.

If you're getting a message that says "Full or Write Protected" then it may just be full... right click on it in My Computer and check how much space is left.

Pen drives usually don't have a whole filesystem write protect, but if you right click the files and go to properties, they may have "Read-Only" checked. You have to uncheck that if you wish to write to that file.

Can you still read off the drive?

The message clearly states that the disc is write protected.

It is not a file level protection.

I am unable to cut files from the flash drive
I am unable to copy files onto the flash drive.

I thought you said it was a pen drive? Which is it? If it's a disc, what kind of disc? They're very different in terms of being able to write protect.

No problem Mates!! there is a switch on the sides for locking the device (whether it's a pendrive or mp3/mp4 player). That same switch also controls the write protection. Change the direction of the switch and delete a file from the device. This should work!
