    Really depends on the context.
Would you give a rapist freedom to rape again, or a murderer to kill?

Definitely depends on the crime they committed. Petty shoplifting, maybe. Murder,Manslaughter, rape, then no definitely not,it would be showing them that its okay to do these things with no consequences and then they will likely commit this crime again

Depends on what you consider a "second chance." Are you arguing the death penalty?

Well I he's a rapist he should get life in prison, if he's a murderer then depending on the circumstances he should be put in for life or set free.

Under what circumstance would you set a murderer free? I am not saying an ACCUSED murderer. At the point where the person is accused he is a suspect, not a murderer. You also mention murder, not manslaughter in any degree.

So, again, under what circumstance would a murderer be set free, keeping this loose definition in mind: Murder is the unlawful killing, with malice and fore thought, of another human. Murder is distinguished from manslaughter by the "fore thought"?
