Ask Me Help Desk - I have a neighbor that is harassing me

I have neighbor who is harassing me about my dogs. He really trying to distract his wife from the fact that he is having an affair with the women on th other side of him. So he daily tells his wife took keep an eye on me because of the dogs. He has lied to police on a number of occasions and I have even gotten a ticket I have to go to court on. The poop was at least five days old and not two hours like he said my dogs did I took pictures of the poop and my dogs poop I have huge dogs and so the poop would nt be tiny I also have a witness that I was not even home at the time he lied and said that I walked my dogs and let my dog poop. The other night I was walking my dog he ran out the house with a video camera and starting filming going down the street starting dog. He waits by the window every night for me to come walk past and stares if not starting video camera. I called the cops and told them that I have been harassed and lied on and that howes now video taping me. They went and talked to him took his side He is manipulator and the cops did not seem to bright . The cop came back to me and said if you walk your dog in front of this house it will look like your starting starting stuff another way I live right down the street form a park and would have to walk six blocks around to a void walking in front of his house. I think my rights are being violated. THe neighbor has said that he would make me get rid of my dogs. What advise could you give anyone.

Sounds like you have some serious drama on your hands. My best advice would be to pay no attention to your neighbor. You mentioned that he is having and affair with the individual living behind you guys or where ever, but the truth in the matter is that you have no solid proof of this or so I'm assuming anyway. You guys just need to get along and let go of your differences, and if not both then you should be the bigger person and not allow him to get a reaction. He does all these things to set you off, and judging by the question, he is getting it. I think you should pay no attention to his childish ways and counter act by being super nice at all times. No matter how bad he acts just always be the bigger person. When he records you walking by be sure you wave to the camera and say hello as you pass. Eventually he'll see that he has no effect on you and he'll move on to something new.

It is not illegal for him to video you if you are walking down the sidewalk on on the street.

As for the dog poop, what is the local laws on this, for example in many places the area around the side walk to city right and way and not private property, and there is no poop law that stops a dog from using it on the public right of way. Maybe get a camera and video him back

When you walk carry a bag with you.

Fr I know someone that got into trouble because her dog peed in someone else yard on her walk... the health dept told her it was unsanitary and to carry water to clean it up.
Btw this was a business in a residential neighbor that was doing the complaining maybe they ahd more clout with the city as they ahd been there for 20+ years.

I know that being video taped is not a crime as you are essentially on public property so that's his "right" so to speak. I like the suggestion of carrying a bag with you also and actually picking up the poop your dog makes.

He may or may not have an affair with the neighbor. How do you know for sure? You don't. Let his wife find out on her own.

Essentially there is nothing you can do about this jerk. Would suggest that you take a different route so he can't video tape you if this is making you nervous or upset. With some people like him, there is no stopping them as they will just continue to harass you until they move onto someone else. Just ignore him and don't bother calling the cops anymore as there is essentially nothing they can do about him - unless he starts to verbally threatening you or damaging your property in any way.

My advise to you would be to examine when the issue with your neighbor started. Is it really about the dogs? Unfortunately, this is your neighbor and you will have to deal with the situation and somehow make peace. Your other choice is to move.

This may be a silly idea, but is there some reason you can't walk on the other side of the street in front of his house? That way he doesn't have any reason to complain, and it won't be taking you entirely out of your way.

Affair with the other neighbor and not too bright Cops aside - how did all of this start? Did you ever get along?

How do you know that he told his wife to watch you? Were you friends at one time?

Do you have to walk past his house to get to the park? How about walking in the street or on the other side of the street - ?

And do you or he have problems with other neighbors?
