    How to help my daughter?
My Daughter is eight years old and in a very bad situation her mother is not taking proper care of her. She sometimes forgets to feed her before school. My Daughter is talking with a social worker. Is this A good thing? I had her in in counseling but could not afford to keep it going. Her mother rrefuses to pay her part so I end up paying the full tab. I love my daughter very much but every where I turn for help the court shuts me down I am a father at the end of my rope, and don't want to just do nothing for my daughter. I need help I've tried lawyers the have just done nothing except take money and do nothing. My EX had gotten Remarried to a abusive husband and my Daughter had to witness the abuse . I contact the authorities, nthing was done. I contacted the department of child and family services, nothing was done. I talked with the child advocate, was told unless my daughter was physically hurt nothing could be done?? Plerase can someone help!!

I wish I had some magic words or great advice, but you have tried them all. And I wish I could say this is not common but it is, When I lived in GA, I taught school for one semister, I worked in a special program just for kids whose parents did not feed them breakfest, who may not even wake them up. We had a special bus, the driver would go to the door and often have to wake the child up to bring them to school.

We saw they got feed and did not even try to assign home work since it was never done. Most of these kids suffered from other issues also due to this home life.

Document and document everything, and just try your best.

If you think your daughter is in contact with a social worker, then maybe you should contact that social worker. Just to let them know that you are a father who cares and wants to be involved.
Also, stay in contact with your daughters school. Set up parent/teacher conferences to keep tabs on your daughter. Ask questions about what you can do to help if there is a problem. Let them know they can contact you whenever necessary.
These simple actions will let people know that you are a caring father who wants to be a part of his daughters life. If the time comes where your child is taken out of her mother's home, then they know that you are there and willing to take over.

I am so sorry to hear this. My husband is going through the same thing. Every time we call the police or social services we get into trouble, but we keep trying. Your best bet is to try to get audio or video tape, check the laws in your state. It is what the police told us to do. Just keep hope and give your child a soft place to fall and when she is old enough the court will listen to her.

I just don't get it. Why in some states the tiniest thing a child reports to counslors or social workers at school they get taken away or parents get threathen that if the behavior continues there going to take away the kids, but other states they overlook everything?1?? Sorry this doesn't help you but maybe you should try going for custody and talk to your daughter what things is she telling the social worker? If that person is over looking the sit. You should talk to the princ. At your daughters school and acknowldge them of the sit. Social workers jobs are to report misconducting things that are going on at home and entitled to inform the parents about their child's feelings... at least in my persoanl they are...

You might want to contact the inspector general in your state. They govern department of human services. You might want to ask your legislator who would be in control but I found out today that the inspector general in Oklahoma is in control. Good luck and keep at it.
