Why am I attracted to the 'thug', or the wrong type of men ,who in the long run, mean me no good? How do I break this cycle? I am not dating until I find the solution.

Trust me, a lot of women experience the same thing sooner or later in life and some of them don't even realize so they keep locking themselves in unhealthy relationships.

You know what they say, it takes two to tango. And you have the relationships you deserve. I'm not saying you deserve to be treated badly, I am saying that you are allowing it. Most of the time when we find ourselves stuck in that "cycle" it's when we don't think we deserve to be loved more. So yes, I think that people choose lovers that are bad for them and live unhealthy relationships because they lack self-esteem and it's the kind of relationship that fits just right in.

You seem to be aware of the problem, I think the solution can be professional help at this point. Take your time, build your self-esteem back and go back out there to find the right guy. I wish you good luck and lots of courage, because it will be worth every second.

If I were you I would look in different places to find a nice guy. Perhaps a book store, a dog park, a coffee shop, to find some "thug free" men.

You just have to be honest with yourself. 9 times out of 10, deep down we know if someone is truly for us or not. I don't personally feel that all "thugs" are unqualified as far as being a good potential mate. However, you just need to acknowledge some concrete qualities that you wan in your future partner and then once you have those few (don't make on of those long, unnecessary lists that limits more than benefits) criterions stick with that and don't give your attention to anyone who doesn't meet them.
