My pump turns on and fill my presher tank and then it wants to kick off but it turns on and off like 6 times before it turns off all the way I have the swich set for 40/60 psi

1. How large is your pressure tank?
2. About how long is the line from the tank to your house?
3. Let's check the tank's pressure. There is a little air valve at the top. With the power turned off and pressure drained down to zero by opening a faucet, set the pressure in the tank to two pounds BELOW the point where the pump turns on. In your case, that would thirty eight pounds.
3. There is a small pipe leading to the pressure switch. If that pipe is clogged, it can cause problems. Turn off the power and remove the pressure switch and inspect the pipe.

Would this be a surface or a submersible pump? What's the reading on the pressure gage when the pump's cycling? Back to you, Tom
