OK plumbing gurus, I have another question for you. I have a new front load washer machine. After washing we will get a strong sewer odor in the basement. The drain for the machine goes into a 1 1/2 copper drain with a p trap, that goes directly into the main sewre line. The pipe is about 20"long before getting to the trap. Is there too much force behind the draining of the machine that is forcing out all the water in the trap and letting some smell back in? I was going to put in a slop sink and let the machine drain into the sink hoping it would drain slower and there would be no smell, If you think that would help.
Any would be greatly appreciated.
