How to daisy chain water supply tanks & increase water pressure?
The deep water well that supplies our home also supplies another small house on the property that my father lives in. Water supply has never been an issue as it is a great well. The well feeds a small supply tank with switch, then there is two other supply tanks that are daisy chained together with check valves between them. I'm guessing this was done to provide more water so pump didn't kick on so often. All pumps are pressure tanks and have same air pressure in them when I checked. The pressure is lower than I like. To increase the pressure should I change the settings on the switch and all tanks, and do I even need the other two tanks to have pressure on them. What is the best solution to increase my water pressure and maintain a reserve to keep the pump from running as often. I can't increase the tank sizes due to space, so I'm guessing that's why they are like they are.

    Thanks.

I should think a 80 gallon galvanized pressure tank would hold all the volume that you'll ever need. I can see no advantage to having three bladder tanks in series. The tanks have nothing to do wilt pressure all they do is maintain it. To increase your pressure open up the control box, (see image)and follow these directions. First turnoff the power at the breaker box, then pull the cover off the pressure switch and you will see two spring loaded bolts secured with nylon nuts. One tall, one short. To increase the cut in pressure, turn the nut on the tall bolt down. To increase the cut out pressure,(that's the one that will give you more pressure) turn the nut on the short bolt down until the desired pressure's reached. This should give you the additional preesur you desire. Good luck .Tom

Thank you. I'll give this a try. As for the extra two tanks, will it hurt to have the extra tanks so I don't have to redo plumbing? If not, should they also have pressure on them?

    Thanks.

As long as you have enough volume the tanks should be fine. The bladder tanks should be reset to 2 PSI under the new CUT IN pressure setting.
    Good luck, Tom
