I need a new faucet in the kitchen. Old lines are copper and sweated in. Can a novice do-it-yourselfer change the copper lines to flex-steel, and put in a new faucet, or do we need a plumber? We are willing to learn.. Where can I find detailed information on how to do it? Step by step?

Is your faucet sitting on top of the sink? Or is it mounted on the wall ?

Milo, I'm still figuring out how to use the web site--but in answer to you, my faucet is mounted on the sink on the counter-top.

Do you have stop valves under the sink. Can you show a picture of pipes under sink?

I cannot imagine the original plumber soldered copper directly into the faucet. As Harold asks: would it be possible you snap a photo of it and post it ? Thank you

This should be a job you can do yourself, with a little patience. Pics will help us help you. Once we see what you are dealing with we will try our best to make this as simple as possible for you.

When considering options in the future.. consider 3/8" COMRESSION couplings... Here, you cut the copper tubing above the shutoffs and then install compression couplings and then transition to a 3/8" compression x 1/2" female flexible riser... see pictures.

You are so kind! Part of the reason Hubby says not to do it now is he's afraid we'll hit some trouble and be stuck. I'm 'more daring' and think we can do it. That's why I thought if I could get a set of basic directions on how to proceed, we could do it.

Also, I'm still figuring out how to take a picture and then post it. So you see, I still need to do some homework before I precede.But I can see that this is a great website, with many helpful folks. I will check in later when we are ready. Thank you all!
