    Toilet will not fill
Hello, I am a new user of this website. Can anyone tell me why my toilet will not fill up? This problem just started. It flushes fine, but the water level in the bowl stays low and does not fill. The tank fills and shuts off and is ready to flush the next time. I have been solving my problem by pressing the handle slightly to let more water in the bowl, but it is an inconvenience. Once I let extra water in the bowl, it it fine until I flush again. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Does the valve have a refill tube running into the over flow pipe, there should be a 1/4 inch line running into the over flow pipe with a full stream. It could be that you are not getting a full stream and need some new parts in the valve.

Does the water fill in the tank up to the refill line? If it does not raise the water level. If it is above the fill line then lower the water level, sometimes this will change the way your commode flushes and will leave th water in the bowl at the right height after the flush.

Thanks, letmetellu. I checked the refill tube, and it has a full stream going into the over fill tube.
I did notice however, that the water level in the tank was about 1/2" above the refill line (but not to the top of the tube), so I adjusted the float by depressing the clip that moves it down. (I have a fluidmaster ballcock in my tank). I tried flushing it twice, and both times the bowl filled to the proper level. I think you hit the nail on the head with your answer! I wonder though, why I just started having this problem... and how could the float have moved so that the tank was filling above the fill line? Anyway, I hope that was the cause. Thanks again.
