How far should toilet tank be from wall?
    Hi,
I have a very small bathroom and every inch counts. This is a new bathroom in the house and the plumber installed the toilet with the toilet tank 1 1/2" from the wall. I have never seen a toilet tank that far from the wall. Is that acceptable? or should it be closer to the wall.
The front of the toilet is only 21" from the wall in front of the toilet and we could sure use the toilet moved 1" back.
    Thanks.
    Natalie

    Hey Natalie,
Yes ypour tank is out too far. We usually have 1/4 to 3/8ths play behind the tank. You best bet would be to pull the toilet and install a offset closet flange, (see image) or I have see where a 2 X 4 was installed behind the tank and painted the same color as the walls. This would work in your case because a 2 X 4 is only 1 1/2 X3 1/2. Let me know. Regards, Tom
