If you are having problems with a newly installed water heater, review the Installation section or Troubleshooting Guides. Most problems with a new water heater are installation related and most are easy to resolve.

I have a 40 gallon electric hot water heater that is providing a small amount of hot water before the water temperature drops off and goes cold. Could the problem be one of the elements or could it be a lower or upper thermostat problem?

This hot water heater was install on may 2,2011, it is electric, the water was warm for a while, we turn the heater up to 150 one day ago and water is still not, we believe the element is burn out, i have six year warranty on this, what do you think it is.

Second I would suggest to call for the warranty fix, they will send some one to fix the problem,

I second Johns objection about the caps. We don't like being yelled at in here. Sounds like one of two things has happened.
1. You turned the power on before the heater filled **or**
2. You failed to open a hot water faucet to bleed out the air and burned out a element. You can try to get it fixed under warranty but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. New elements don't burn out 7unless they're exposed to air when first turned on. The good news is that elements aren't that costly and if you're handy with tools we can walk you through theinstallation. Your call. Good luck, Tom

We are installing a 40gallon natural gas hot water heater... have it all hooked up, no water leaks.but we can not get the thing to light?. any help

Water heater is gas or electric
New or old installation
Pilot lighting issue
Purged air from lines or not
Plumber installed or you installed, etc...
