Parts to a shower handle, mine keeps breaking Made of plastic)
My shower handle keeps breaking, (plastic) am I installing it correctly or am I missing
A part, that prevents it from cracking. (the part that keeps cracking is the cilindrical part that screws on to the stem of the shower. (single faucet).

Where you buy the parts from might make a difference.Perhaps you aren't being given all the replacements for a totally new installation.

A plumbing supply store may or may not have all the right parts, they only have what they see to replace.

When we had a Kohler problem with a shower insert, they(Kohler, online) had me take pictures of the parts I wanted to replace, set the unit up on a table(in pieces) and send them many pictured angles.

They decided for me what they would replace(as they know what breaks most often/what they replace more often),The part was sent overnight and the fixture is right again. It cost us more for the shipping than the part did.But a lot less than the $400 replacement(the plumbing supplier wanted us to buy because they couldn't figure it out :( )

    Do you know the manufacturer?

Can you describe the handle to someone online?(Is there a plate or tab on the handle somewhere with some kind of symbols on them?)

    Augi43...

Sounds like a MOEN shower handle... yes? If so, these handles will typically come with a handle and a small metal collar or washer that sets into the handle before you install it. Moen would replace this and send you all the parts for free (including shipping) by calling 1800BUYMOEN.

If it is a DELTA shower handle then you may just be using the handle with excessive force... maybe?

    Let us know more... OK?
