Teacher retirement disability and social security disability
I qualified for both teacher retirement disability and social security disability.

I saw the quote (below) but I'm uncertain how or if it also applies to me.

"If the disability comes from Social Security, it is tax free.

If it comes from your employer, it IS taxable."

Also, my son receives dependent social security. Am I still able to claim him and file as head

    Of household?

The Social Securiyt disability is definitely NOT taxable.

Your teacher disability IS taxable, but it is likely the ONLY taxable income you have.

Yes, you CAN claim your son and still be Head of Household, even though he is receiving the Social Security income.

BTW, that is HIS income; do NOT add it to your tax return.
