Soc. Sec. Disability and Deferred Compensation
I am 59 years old, permanently disabled for one year now and currently receiving monthly Social Security Disability payments, along with monthly payments from two long term private disability policies.

My former employer set up a "deferred compensation" program which generally is paid when an employee retires (usually after the employee reaches 65 or older). Because of my permanent disability, I can elect to receive this deferred compensation now, but I am unclear if this will reduce, delay or offset monies received under my Social Security Disability benefits.

(Note: Both of the private long term disability insurance companies have agreed that my benefits under those policies will not be impacted by my receipt of deferred compensation.)

Any thoughts? Thank you for your help.

You should have a contact name who has been assigned to your case. Call their toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213, on Friday, a quieter day probably, so the wait shouldn't be too long. I've always had good luck in getting helpful answers when I call them.
